Sewed up a wallet for a friend:

It got its own post on the bag/purses/wallets board.

Project Name: LSU Wallet
Project Link: Here
This project probably shouldn't have taken five hours but I've been sick so Tongue A friend saw the scrap of LSU fabric I had draped over my sewing chair and asked if I could make him something with it so I made a wallet.

3  LSU Wallet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by RedheadWithThread on: June 18, 2017 09:10:09 PM
A friend from my hubs' Nat'l Guard unit saw the scrap of LSU fabric that I had draped over the back of my sewing chair and asked if I could make him something out of it. I suggested a wallet and he said yes, he definitely needed a new wallet. He requested "plenty of pockets" for all his debit/credit/gym membership/other cards.
So I went about looking for a nice wallet pattern with lots of pockets.
I found the Kentucky Bluegrass Wallet on Craftsy and modified it a little to give it more pockets (turned the ID pocket into another bunch of card pockets instead since I didn't have the clear vinyl I needed).

Folded:

For the interfacing I used Pellon Craft Fuse to make it stiffer/thicker:

Before assembly, showing the pockets:

The opening:

It's not quite as neat/crisp as I would've liked but I think our friend will like it Smiley

At first, I wanted an evil dragon because, let's face it, rarely are they shown being benign.
But then I found THIS GUY with a cheese hoard and decided he is my spirit animal, for were I a dragon, I'd most definitely hoard ALL THE CHEESE!

ETA: I haven't been around lately due to 1) our internet being wonky (someone's supposed to come look at it tomorrow; hubs is an IT guy and says it's the modem but they want to confirm before they give us a new one) and 2) I've got severe bronchitis. Severe enough that the doctor prescribed a med that he says is also used to treat pneumonia and said if that doesn't clear me up by Tuesday to go back. Fingers crossed it clears up because I don't want it to turn into pneumonia as I have NEVER been hospitalized aside from when I gave birth to my son.

Project Name: Toddler distraction
I used some scraps that I had in colors that my little froggy seemed to like and crocheted up a little half sphere with a tail to distract him with. This way, I can craft without him trying to steal my fabrics or yarn. It seems to be working so far. But I don't know how long that will last Roll Eyes

6  Pepper Jack Cheese Sauce (with recipe!) in Recipes and Cooking Tips by RedheadWithThread on: June 12, 2017 03:29:39 PM
My hubs and I have been eating healthy lately but today I broke down and had to have nachos. They were ooey-gooey and delicious.

RECIPE:
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon flour
3/4 cup milk
1 cup shredded cheese (I used pepper jack because it's what I had on hand and it's my personal favorite)

Melt your butter in a sauce pan over medium heat.
Whisk in the flour until it's smooth (no whisk? use a fork!) then remove from heat to add the milk (if you don't remove it from the heat, it WILL burn: I learned the hard way).
Stir/whisk until milk starts to try to glob/stick to the pot.
Add cheese.
Whisk until smooth and creamy then pour over nachos.
Could also be used as a macaroni sauce.

I wanted nachos so I decided to make myself some cheese sauce. Now, I hadn't made cheese sauce from scratch in a LONG time until two days ago (and I fudged that; it was gross and lumpy). For reference, before two days ago, the last time I did I was helping my grandma, and she passed away in 1998 Shocked I burnt the first two batches or this would fall under ZAPS territory as it only takes maybe 10 minutes (if that long).

Also makes a GREAT macaroni sauce! Cheesy

I've made ONE thing for myself: my purse/diaper bag. I love it, too, and get lots of compliments on it Grin

I sewed a reversible bucket hat for my son. It does count even though only half the fabric is from stash, right? The blue is stash but the Star Wars was a recent purchase: it was a fat quarter that was meant to become a wallet for me but I liked how it paired with the blue, which I had already planned to use for the hat.
