My musical college son needs furniture so I picked up this table for $2 and painted it to suit his love of music.  I am addicted to painting furniture!!!
Not sure I remember how to post pics here but here I go:

Thanks everyone.  INGY I'd love to see your jacket.  I am working on an adult jacket right now.  Here is the latest little jumper I finished today.

3  handpainted denim in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by simplytreasured on: September 17, 2007 07:45:06 AM
I wanted to try my hand at painting on clothing.  These denim outfits were so boring so I decided to paint them up into wearable works of art.  They even held up through my 'wash' test, although I used cold water and hung to dry.

If anyone wants to try it I mixed my acrylic paints with a fabric medium about 1/2 to 1/2.

I had to try my hand at painting shoes too and found it a lot of fun.  When I wear them out I love to see people take second looks when they notice them.  Must do more!

5  Re: Honest opinion wanted in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by simplytreasured on: May 28, 2005 07:49:37 AM
I agree with you about Ebay I guess (and I know how you feel Natasha, been through that too) but the thing is there are a lot of artists I know on there that sell really well.  I admit I've given up on Ebay but being in a secluded area it was my only outlet for now.  People where I live don't consider you an 'artist' unless you're a doctors or lawyers wife (no offense meant anyone).  I guess I will hang on to them until I move down south to the city in the fall.  Anyone here ever buy art and have any idea about pricing.  I think I let my other work go for far too little.  Here is an example, this one I sold for $50 and now the guy owns 5 of my paintings from that series.  The rest I have donated to various charities for auctioning.  This maybe isn't the place to ask these questions but I'm really stuck and sure could use some help.  Here is one that went for $50.  Thanks for any help! Trish

6  Honest opinion wanted in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by simplytreasured on: May 27, 2005 10:18:23 PM
I have been very fortunate to sell a lot of my paintings.  But I am confused because my 2 fav. which are more surrealist and different from my usual folk art style have attracted no buyers even though I have listed them a few tmes on Ebay.  Someone please give me your honest opinion if you can think of a reason why?  I can take criticism lol...np
  OOPS sorry kind of big

Aw you guys are too nice  Embarrassed  The table is one of those melamine I think?  You know the fake wood top.  All I did was sand it down a bit to rough it up.  Then I primed it wtih water based primer but I used a melamine blue paint. I drew it all myself and then painted with acrylics.  Then I put around 3 or 4 coats of water based polyurethane and that was it. It is holding up very well too.  I painted chairs to match.  I love to do that to furniture.  Here is another outdoor table I did. My son dragged hom a round piece of wood with a hole in the middle and I cannot sometimes control my urge to paint everything lol.  I painted it, used an outdoor plant pot as a base and put a candle in the hole and voila..nice new table.  Painting is my first love and I have sold many paintings on EBAY to Can, US, UK, Netherlands.  I love to paint.  Take a look atmy portfolio by clicking on the link belowsometime and you'l see some of my work. Sorry for rambling.  Here is the other table.
ps. gagagabag...I think I still have the drawings, if you want I'll scan them on here for you.  Let me know.

8  revamped furniture in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by simplytreasured on: May 22, 2005 02:39:31 PM
My daughter needed a kitchen table when she was trying to furnish her first apartment.  With a college students budget money was tight.  I had an old faux wood table that I wasn't using to I got out my paints and went wild.  Here is the result. She and her friends love it!

If you are putting out pretzels, nuts etc. try making those bowls and platters by melting down and shaping old record albums.  They are fun and very retro, if you aren't against recylcing records that is..here are a few I made if I've posted the pic right that is Undecided.
