1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing ATC Swap -- April 2017 Gallery! on: April 24, 2017 08:07:51 AM
The lady in the dress is Divine from John Water's Pink Flamingos. Our favorite Waters film is Pecker. It is much more tame. I think the dog is from the plastic Little People Bus set, circa 80s. There was an earlier wood/plastic set more in the 70s. They were thinner. Cool collection!

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: 2017 Ongoing ATC Swap Discussion Thread on: April 19, 2017 03:53:26 PM
I press things in big books or just go with the wrinkled look and try to make it more weathered. I use wood glue which is less watery than regular white glue.

Should we add another person as co-host?

Let me know what you think of a position that involves cheerleading in the gallery and taking over the paperwork in the case of my demise. But mostly the cheerleading.  Cheesy

Sammylouise, I love the fill on the hoopla. It makes it visually interesting and unexpected.
Mellius, I don't do jewelry so the rope on the necklace is very impressive. I don't know if they come like that but I like the style.
Wavelight, the quote on the tote is perfect for shopping Brilliant!
Roler, I'm so happy your Mulan showed up. It is one of my favorite hoops from your work.
EdelC, great spoiling package. Love the apron and celtic knot journal.

I'm getting myself organized as you can see. Here is my awesome package from IsikkahJai. Side note, thank you so much for the beautiful regift. It will be cherished.

First the card was very official with a wax seal and everything.  Smiley There was a pirate chest filled with booty.

Then this gorgeous wire sculpted sign that says I survived the fire swap. As you should well know that is a Princess Bride quote. It isn't bent. That is just the camera's weird angle.

And another Princess Bride item. This hoopla has all the dangers of the fire swap. I love it. Pretty and comical!

Thanks again for a great swap everyone.  Grin

Here are the links to my projects including the dagger which I hope arrived! I didn't notice it in the pictures. I wouldn't think it would be contraband with the post office. I won't post the pics so I don't get in trouble for overposting.

Project Name: Tie Dye Semi Fail
Project Link:
Brief Description: I used the rest of the Rit dye to do these. The cotton towels were the same brand as some in the previous batch. The night shirt is organic cotton. I left these in the sun for two days until they dried. Somehow the white areas all became a mushy washed out blue. Maybe I didn't use enough vinegar or the dye went bad after being opened a week. These did have more white areas. Any ideas?

Project Name: DIY Organic Face Mask
Project Link:
Brief Description: I've been doing a fair amount of research on healthy living choices. I wanted to get some of those popular face masks for the Easter baskets but they all look pretty toxic. This was an attempt at a mask that removes toxins and moisturizes. It has activated charcoal, aztec clay, and misc essential oils in a carrier of castor/avocado. All of the oils had a purpose but I think I made it too complex to really do all the things everything is advertised to do. I avoided my eyes and nose but did manage to eat some.  Tongue It has earthy dirt undertones with stank floral tannins. I think everyone is geeking over face masks (Geek Day) and you need a towel (Towel Day) to do this project.

Project Name: Yellow Medley
Project Link: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=452133.0
Brief Description: This is pineapple, zucchini, garlic. It is really good. Once again, I was using what I had. I use rooting powder and planted the top of the pineapple but it immediately died. It was imported from Mexico so I don't know if they irradiated it and killed it?

An almost forgotten means of economic self-reliance is the home production of food. - Ezra Taft Benson
