Oh dear...I felt kind of ashamed of being in my twenties and hearting Ron....I don't feel so bad now! I have an 'I Heart Ron' shirt too,  only I bought mine at Hot Topic. Your idea sells, apparently! It's very cute...I get lots of compliments too

That's fantastic!!! It reminds me of these little houses I used to build out of cardboard boxes when I was a kid...I called them 'Cat Houses' (without really knowing what that meant) because I built them for these two rubber cats I owned. I made them beds and clocks and a fire place...one time even a litter box I filled with real dirt. It was a lot of fun!

5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Crafty But Stupid: YOUR CRAFT RELATED INJURIES HERE! on: June 30, 2005 07:45:22 AM
My craft related injuries always come back to carelessness and laziness, because I would rather think about getting the craft done than anything else.

One time I got the sudden inspiration to cover my lightswitch in the fuzzy leopard print fun fur I had laying around. (it had previously been coating the inside door of my school locker.) So i was sitting there on the bed with everything in my lap...the fur, the lightswitch cover, the teeny screws that go into it, and of course, a pair of good, sharp, fabric scissors. Then I had to get something, I don't remember what, all I know is that it was right there on the chair in front of me, but just out of reach. I really should have removed everything from my lap and stood up, but I didn't want to, there was so much tiny, easy to loose sort of stuff, and it seemed much quicker just to reach a bit.

So I'm leaning forward, strecthing out to try and reach the object in question. The moment my fingers closed around it, I felt the scissors slip off my lap. I looked down just in time to see them plunge point first into my foot, stand there upright for a second, and then fall to the side. I simply sat there, staring at the fresh wound in my foot, waiting for it to bleed, trying not to flip out.

After I finally calmed myself down enough to take care of the injury, I realized the scissors had landed right on a bone..they went right to the bone, but if they hadn't landed there, they could have gone right through my foot. It was such a horrible one in a million chance they landed exactly the way they did, but it could have been much, much worse. I always seem to get off pretty lucky with these things. =)

That is absolutely genius! You make me want to create a little Mermaid themed one for my friend's birthday...that is her favourite movie, and she collects LM stuff.

Those are the cutest things in the world! I have a friend who would love them...she adores pretend food. We recently saw a huge stack of felt donuts in a store window in the city...it was awesome. They were stacked real high, in a pyramid shape, with beads sewn on as sprinkles...it looked awesome....if you want to see a pic, i will send you one personally, but i don't want to post it, i don't know if i would be infringing on any copyrights or anything
8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: WHAT THE -beeeep- IS THAT ? (with pics) on: June 27, 2005 10:03:55 AM
Well, you are right about the number 2 item being a seam ripper. Be very glad you have one...they are soooo useful! I use mine a lot, as I make a lot of mistakes.

The chalky stuff is tailor's chalk. You make marks on fabric with it, especially when using a pattern. It's good for marking where button holes or darts or straps go. It wipes off easily, which is why it's cool to use on fabric.

The sewing gauge is basically a glorified measuring tape, useful, I guess, because you can slide the little marker to your desired measurement and then compare everything to that instead of finding the same little line everytime with your tired, sewing weary eyes. It's good for measuring seams or button holes or anything small and fussy.

As for the last item, I'm not compeltely sure about it, but I think I remember my mother telling me it is also for marking fabric. You dip it in powdered chalk or something like that, and then run it along the lines of your pattern. The spikes break through the tissue and leave little marks on your fabric. Don't quote me on that last one, though.

Hope that helps!!!
