1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / 30's kids quilt on: November 18, 2009 10:02:51 PM
I made this in a second Saturday sampler class at the LQS.  I used 30's replica print fabric with animals/people/figures on them.  It was my first time stippling, which I did in all the white areas.  I think this is my fav piece of work so far.  Onto the pics!

The back shows the machine quilting best, sorry for the horrible lighting but I couldn't pick up the detail otherwise.

C&C Welcome, thanks for looking!
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Boxer Short Quilt on: November 18, 2009 06:41:42 PM
So, this is an old project, but I never posted it here  Huh .  It's a modified nine patch pattern and I made it for my fiance a year ago.  He still sleeps with it every night.  I don't have a great picture of the full quilt, but you get the idea.  It's called the boxer short quilt because of the fabrics.  I wanted it to be a "man quilt" and it kind of ended up looking like a bunch of boxers pieced together.

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Blues Quilt - Update, I finished the quilting (bottom of pg 1) on: July 05, 2009 04:45:29 PM
This is a twin sized quilt made during a once monthly sampler class.  I finished all the ditchwork on my machine, but I'm really stuck on what design to quilt.  I was thinking about something fun, like an ocean or night sky motif, since the colors are so bright.  I'd love any input!  Thanks!

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Cabled Legwarmers on: April 27, 2008 04:18:51 AM
I based these loosely on Knitty's Mosey, but with 4x2 rib and I changed up the cable pattern a bunch.  I also decided just to do a cable panel on the front.  These photos are the product of my phone, plus they were taken with the intention of being artsy and weird (now that I'm a photographer I can't do anything normal, lol).  Thanks for looking.  I would love comments.  I'll try to get pics up later that do these things justice.

5  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Tonal Fabrics - Dying with different saturation of the same color. on: April 14, 2007 12:57:15 PM
Has anyone ever seen Tonal Fabric collections?  It's cotton fabric that is dyed in different shades of the same color.  For instance, Light - Medium - Dark Pink.  I'm trying to achieve this on my own and I'm looking for tips.  I'm experimenting now with diluting the dyes for each batch, but still waiting for results.  Please let me know if anyone has any tips.

My other concern is that since I'm using Dylan fabric dyes, how do you keep the color from fading over time?  what's a good "fixer"?
6  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / lip gloss help! on: March 20, 2007 10:41:59 PM
I made a lip gloss base (which I am so in love with) out of oil, cocoa butter and beeswax.  But I'm having a hard time blending in flavors. I've been buying extracts (vanilla, mint, etc - the kind you bake with) at the store, and I'm noticing that some of them will mix in and some will seperate - like oil and water - instead of blending in.

The ones with higher alcohol content seem to blend better, so I'm wondering if that's my problem/solution.  But how do I fix that in extracts with low alcohol content?

Is there some kind of wonder emulsifier or something I'm not thinking of?  Please help!!
7  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Suggest New Boards and New Features / [ACCEPTED] Crochet Board and Amigurumi on: September 22, 2006 03:39:36 AM
I don't know who else is a crochetter around here, but I've been noticing recently that Amigurumi is on the rise.  It seems to be taking over the crochet board.  I think the stuff people make is really adorable, but I'm personally more into making garments.  Whenever I'm trying to browse the Crochet board for inspiration, sometimes I kinda wish Amigurumi had it's own section.  It would help both garment crochetters and Amigurumi crochetters browse for projects they liked/were in the mood, save time on browsing and give some recognition to Amigurumi, which I think is a great craft and has it's own unique qualities that can be recognized as being different from other types of crochet.  Any thoughts?
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Photographer Swap on: September 02, 2006 05:00:24 AM
I dabble in photography a little, and I recently recieved the most kick a-- tripod bag in another swap.  It's since inspired me to make crafty things to incorporate into my photography, like a camera bag and strap.

I'm sure there are a few photographers out there that would love something crafty and extraordinary for when they're out snapping shots, practicing darkroom zen, playing with those digital shots on the computer, or even crafty frames to place your masterpieces in.

I would be willing to organize this swap, as long as there's interest.  I was thinking signups ending sometime after the 20th, because I'll be moving around the 15th.

Please post if you're interested and feel free to share any crafty items/ideas you've had relating to photography.  I've got a ton of ideas for stuff relating to this if anyone feels like coming up with ideas would be too challenging.
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Give your team some love! on: August 16, 2006 02:00:56 AM
They just might take the lead in the AL West, like my Oakland A's have.  I knitted these wristwarmers up using some girlier versions of team colors.  Number 33 if for first baseman, left fielder, home run hitter, sweet as pie, 25 year old brunette, country boy, hottie... Nick Swisher.  I'm too old for crushes, but I have such a crush on him... without further ado...

10  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Bday Present for my Mom on: August 16, 2006 01:54:50 AM
I just want to say how much I LOVE SnB's HH.  This is the one skein scarf pattern (which took a little over a skein, liars!) and a simple double crochet hat with the same border on it.  I wish the pictures showed how lush the color is.  I love it to pieces.

this picture just sucked up all the light...
