11  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: Fiber Friday - August 15, 2008 on: August 15, 2008 05:44:05 AM
Oooh, pretty!  I didn't get much spinning done either, but I did some, and that's the important part.  Here's Xavier (Xavier colourway from Twisted Fiber Arts, merino/kid mohair blend):

I love it!  I spin more natural fibres and batts, so handpainted is always fun and exciting.

I haven't done much spinning, but I did spin one skein.  I haven't decided whether to spin the other 2 oz and ply it, or to do it all as singles.  So this is about 2oz, and 110 yards.  If I plied it, I would do the fractal plying thing, where one ply has long colour stretches, and the other has short stretches.  Oh yes, this is merino/kid mohair from Twisted Fiber Arts, in the Xavier colourway.

Teetante, your yarns are gorgeous.  I especially love Tartan, so pretty!

That fleece is gorgeous!  I've always preferred prepared fibre, but I think that tunis fleece could convert me.

The yarns this week are beautiful!  I love them all, and really wish I remembered to spin more often.

Your sweater looks great.  It's such a pretty pattern, and seems to look nice on everyone!

Lufah, your yarns are gorgeous.  I especially love the bamboo!  I also dropped out of Tour de Fleece...  After about 2 days!
But here are the yarns I've spun recently.  The first is a batt from hollyeqq, plied with sparkly thread.  I found the batt a bit hard to spin because it was just so textured, but it's a really soft yarn, so I'm happy.

The second is made of two Loop! babycakes batts, spun in stripes.  I loooove it, it's so soft and sparkly.  I think I'll weave it into a scarf whenever I figure out what to use as warp.

(the picture is pre-washing, so it was a bit twisty still)

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's yarn!

There's so many pretty yarns this week!  I have 2 finished, and 2 in progress.
The first is from a HollyEqq batt that was merino, eco-fibre (recycled pop bottle stuff...) and lots of sparkle.  Prettier colours than it shows, but my camera's not very good.

An attempt at low(er) twist singles, using Corriedale:

And my spins in progress.  On the left is some Black Bunny Fibers merino, and on the right are some Loop baby cakes.

I might ply the baby cakes yarn with some sparkly thread, and the merino will be a worsted-ish 2-ply.

It turned out really well!  What type of yarn did you use?

Gorgeous, I love the colour!

So many gorgeous yarns!  I just got my April batt from Loop, and I am so excited about it.  (my hint for May is Winter!)
I'm jealous of all of your gorgeous yarns!  I haven't been spinning because I've been sick, and it just feels like FOREVER!  (who cares if I can't get out of bed?  I want to Spin!!)
