1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: New painting - first attempt at Pop Art on: February 24, 2017 06:26:27 PM
So, is this an acrylic painting? Collaged items?
whatever, and I am dying to know, it is stunning, happy, gorgeous. !!

Oh so sorry, I meant to add that info in but my sister called and an hour later...I forgot!

It is painted on 18 by 24 canvas in acrylic.  Thanks for liking it; I was worried how it would be received because I don't generally paint this kind of painting. I usually do more serious stuff.  The closest I cam to this kind of work was when I did the "The Walking Dead" painting a while back.

Stumbled across some cheap "Black" canvases at Michaels so I picked up a few.  Looking at them told me that they screamed for Pop Art which I never did; it's a fra, far cry from what I typically do. Anyway, I decided to give it shot. Hope you like it.

Edited to add: four panels that have words in them. The 2nd panel from the top (right side) says: "Life without cats...I don't think so!"
The third panel from the top (left side) says: "The Earth without ART would be...EH!" And the last panel on the bottom left says "Life is a song...so swing it!" The word "love" is easily visible in the next to last panel left side. Ooops, forgot one more panel...a sign on the fence (bottom row) says "What's goin' on"? Appropriate for the nosy cats.

Thanks guys...I haven't enjoyed doing anything like this is a long time, so you know I had a blast. The roses were the most fun. It's amazing to see something so beautiful as a rose to come to life between your fingers. That makes it all worth it.

I knitted this entire cake. I was told it was art! I agree. What do you think?

7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Re: Seeking a good surface for multimedia art (pencil, marker, paint, pens, etc.) on: July 15, 2016 06:09:07 PM
I discovered a nice smooth service to work on that I believe would be just right for your needs. It's called aguabord (by Ampersand) and it comes in a variety of sizes. I buy the one that is 1/8th thick. It is a solid piece of masonite with I think some kind of white paper type glued onto it...anyway I think that's what it is. But the surface is very smooth and easy to draw on.  Buy a small one and test her out...you are going to love it!!! I have worked in acrylics and water color and color pencil and ink...tho the ink tended to rub off on my finger tips...think I need to find me a better pen. Let me know if you try it.
chek

Just to add, I generally work with the board standing in my lap while it is leaning against the table edge. That way I can get "close" to my work. My eye sight isn't that great anymore.

Must be pretty big if you have to stand back from it. How big is it?
