71  Re: Pretty Bird 3D Swap - Gallery in The Swap Gallery by La Chapa on: September 19, 2014 10:26:40 AM
Wow! So many great packages!

fancybutch, I knew that wet felted piece was yours the moment I saw it!  Its gorgeous and very "you."  The flamingo is precious.  Great fabric choices!

Ludi, that chick is ADORABLE!!  It looks like taxidermy!  I just want to pet it. The base really adds something too.  I also love the penguin ornament.  Oh, and you certainly are famous here on Craftster.  You rose to fame rather quickly too!  I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed how instantly popular you became.  Besides, 'underground' fame is always better than all around fame (except for the $ I suppose) because that means that you are admired by your peers and connoisseurs of your craft.   Wink  I hope that came out the way I intended it.   Smiley  Basically, we love you, and you're a rockstar!

Allons-y I love the Victorian bird silhouette!  I need a silhouette piece in my home.  I love them so much, and I've seen them all over the place.  The base for it is quite fancy!  The penguin stuffy looks so squishy!

emilywilde, I think Gunter is a perfect name!

She made me a raven artdoll!...and a feather sculpture thingy to hang on my wall!  She also included a lovely vintage-y postcard!

I really, really love this feather!  She said it's a hydrostone sculpture?  I'm not sure what that is, but it sounds like water was involved somehow.  I'm baffled and very curious.  Enlighten us (well me anyway) artsycandice!

It is PERFECT for my cabinet of natural history curiousities wall!  Say that 10 times fast!  Lol!

And a close up of my beautiful raven art doll!

Isn't she beautiful!?!?  Candice, I'm sure you have better pics.  I apologize that I always have the crappiest pics, but it seems that I'm always opening these in the middle of the night after work, and using my crappy camera phone with crappy flash lighting because it really is the fastest method with the least amount of steps for me to get pics up.

Anyway, here's the backside...

I've already found a home for her amongst some of my other dolls.

Oh! I almost forgot to mention that she is completely articulated!  All her joints function, and I am floored by that!
LOVELY!  I couldn't be happier!  Thanks artsycandice!

See, I knew that Ludi would come up with some interesting twist to the traditional dotee!  I received mine as well, and it is in my opinion equally as fabulous as artsycandice's.

although my picture is not so fabulous because you can't really see the wonderful detail

I absolutely love this piece!  The way she did the root-like legs with all the little tendrils, fabulous!  There is so much energy in Ludi's stitching that I love to just follow the movement with my eyes.  Thank you Ludi!

I can't wait to see Smmarrt's!

Hey folks, I wanted to share what I made for mrraawwr.  Since she received a while back I figured it would be ok to go ahead and post for her.  I hope you don't mind mrraawwr!

I sent her a painted wooden plaque and some polymer clay piranha plant earrings that she had pinned.

Hey everyone! I received this gorgeous, gorgeous beaded necklace from Anna.  Green is my absolute, hands down favorite color and this is perfect.  I must admit that I am so in love with these little necklaces that Anna makes.  They look like they take forever!  And all those fiddly little beads!  I don't know how you do it Anna, but keep it up!  Wink  Thank you so much!  And here it is with a lovely postcard...

You can't really tell because the picture is too dark, but the beads are iridescent!  Pretty!

LOVE that owl!  The backside totally rocks, and I'm so in love with artsycandice's printmaking.  It makes me want to bust out the old woodblock carving tools from my old college days.  Anyway, as promised (although, being on the West coast, it's probably already morning the next day to most of you) pictures!

I received this beautiful dotee and card from artsycandice.

She has such a beautiful face!  I love it so much, I'm speechless!  In fact, I know this is a major faux pas, but I just can't resist linking to this picture I took  https://www.etsy.com/listing/199064627/treescape-photography-treeline-and-moon?  It's like our minds are linked or something!    Moderators: delete if you must, but you can't deny how neat this is!

78  Monster Poof in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: August 05, 2014 11:43:04 PM
I made this little fella for Cryssoleil in the monster swap a while back.  I just made him up, and I envisioned him as some little poofy creature that lives in hollow trees, and root clusters and such.  I've been wanting to make myself a little village of them because I think it's so cute.

79  Freeform cross body bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by La Chapa on: August 05, 2014 03:59:24 PM
I made this cross body bag for Acadian Driftwood in the Enchanted Forest and Woodland Creature swap.  I wanted to find something to make where I could use some of my shaping skills from all the amigurumi making that I've done, but that would be a bit more useful.  It's mostly just scrumbling in different textured yarns and using different stitches.  I added some mushrooms and dangly plant bits to tie it into the theme (mushrooms was one of her themes.)  I busted out the sewing machine for the first time in over 10 years, and basically relearned the basics, VERY basic basics, in order to sew in a liner.  I toyed with the idea of adding a flap and button closure, or a zipper, but everything I was doing was so new to me that I decided not to freak myself out by over-complicating it.  I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.  I think it's pretty good for a first attempt.  Now, I want to make more!  Plus, I've been inspired to brave other projects where sewing is involved.

Wow! those are wonderful!

Found some more!

How fun would these be to wear?

Some cool wall art.  Look at the ant!

And isn't this just the most adorable carnivorous plant you've ever seen?  But watch out! He bites!
