61  A little blonde witch in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by La Chapa on: March 02, 2015 11:14:53 PM
I've been taking a break from amigurumi lately, but this is the last one that I made back in December.  She was requested by a friend for a niece.  Sweet and simple.  Sometimes that's the best way to go.

thanks for looking!

Mission accomplished!  Both claims are in the mail heading to their respective claimees.  AND, I also received a great, big, bulging bag of yarn from rscowtown!

This type of yarn is great for amigurumi!  Thanks rscowtown!  I'm already making plans for the variegated blue and brown, and the variegated green and brown.

I received this super adorable, bug-eyed moth from Wulf yesterday!

The photo doesn't really do him justice. Really.  His eye lids are individually sewn on, and look eerily realistic.  The antennae are actual feathers that have been shaped; so clever!  And the wings are of the thinnest, most delicate gauzy material that I certainly would have destroyed had I tried cutting or sewing it.  Thanks Wulf.  It will be treasured.   Grin

Ok, so here are my goodies from rockingbearranch...

A gorgeous moth to hang on my wall, and this gorgeously decorated little box with sea shells.   And wait till you see what's inside that box...

A bunch of adorable little snails!!!
My favorite is the one with the floral shell.

Thank you rockingbearranch!

Wow!  So much wonderful stuff in the gallery so far.  I can't believe I hadn't checked it yet!

I received this awesome hoop from BriannaB03 today, and I am completely in love with it!

She also sent these two killer plastic aprons!  Love these!

Thank you so much Brianna!  I'm so happy!

Um, ok so I just got the coolest Vintage Halloween item from The Raging Sloth.  It's pretty much the coolest thing I own...

BEHOLD...

It's a paper mache skull with a frog on it!  I love everything about this thing!  I should have put something in the picture for scale, but it's pretty close to life size.  Thanks so, so much The Raging Sloth!

Classic quote of the day: When I opened it my husband was sitting across the table from me and when he saw it, he said "Nuh-uh!"

I received my OTT from La Chapa!

So excited to have a triple-Halloween necklace!  Wink

Hey, glad you got it!  I was a little worried about them cracking, but they look like they survived just fine.

And here's what I got!
A gorgeous little bat trinket box, filled with some awesome bead trinket thingies.  I'm totally going to use them to make a bracelet or something.

and the inside...

Thanks aada, love my batty goodness! (and the skull too!)

68  Re: 3D Bug Swap CLOSED in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by La Chapa on: October 13, 2014 10:49:01 AM
La Chapa, I also had a pet tarantula. Mine was a 6" Mexican Red Leg, named Spydy. Yours appears to be in the rose family of arachnids. Tree dwellers, that are a bit more difficult to handle. Like a "spider" on speed. {they are not one...they are closer to rodents in classification..not an actual insect Grin}

I used to wear mine out in public like a broach. I had many comments about it. Please, never let someone handle it that will become "squeemish". If they drop it, it will explode. They can jump on their own, but unsuspecting...they don't put the right juices in place. They are usually low blood pressure. Mine died of cancer. With no vet I could find to cure it.

I love bugs  Grin If I can square away my life, I will be jumping in here. I think I can find the time. I just want to make sure before I commit to things.  Grin

It's Chilean.  This one is my daughter's.  She doesn't live with us so I don't see it much, but this was taken right after we bought it for her.  I did have a Chilean rose when I was in high school a long, long time ago.  My mom made me get rid of it when I went off to college so I took it to the pet store.

THESE guys on the other hand are mine!  Bought them the same day as the tarantula.  I thought these were better for us since we have an active 4 yr old who likes to handle the pets.  I make him sit when he's holding these.  The middle one isn't dead!  They are death feigning beetles and one of them is particularly fond of playing dead at the slightest provocation.  I do hope you can join us stillatthetop!

A moth!  Looks like a sphinx moth to me.  I love everything about this thing!  The colors, the patterns, and look at the little piece of lace!  Thank you Smmarrt!
I can't wait for the next dotee swap!!!!!!!
