GALLERY!

We all had such a blast making little rows of houses for the last two rounds of the Little Chunky Houses Swap that we're back for round 3!

Here is an example of some of the houses that were used for inspiration:

And click here for the gallery from the round one, and here for round two's gallery.

In this swap, each person will be put into groups of 5. You will make and send one house to each person in your group. Houses must be sturdy enough to stand when attached to other houses, so please make sure you use a good strong base to work with. SIZE: each house should be between 3 and 4 wide, and no more than 7 tall. Embellishments are encouraged. Send each person in your group a house you would like to receive. Although this swap is 'artists choice', please consider the person you are sending each house to. No ghettos, please! In the past two rounds we have all prided ourselves in very high quality of our work.

272  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / #38: The Godmother of Housekeeping on: March 05, 2009 11:53:19 AM
Knickertwist and I were partners in the last IYP swap. We decided to do a swap based on godmothers. I asked Knickers what sort of godmother she would most like to have around, and one she mentioned was a godmother of housekeeping. Well, who wouldn't want one of those? I know I could sure use one around here!

I looked around for images of kindly old women, but I realized while having a conversation with amaryllisroze that a 50's housekeeper might really be better suited to the job. So much more spunk! I gave her some wings, and a wand and a crown, plus some little pearl buttons, and she is ready for action. The words on her apron are cleaning words like dust, tidy, mop, and clean.

I purchased this frame at a flea market a while back, and have been waiting to figure out what to use it for. If I had a godmother that would clean MY house, I'd surely want a shrine to her. Heck, I would worship her daily! The frame was thin enough to punch holes in the bottom, so I hung some milagros there, plus some pearls. She's gotta have her pearls! A few pearls at the top, plus her official number (38) and she is ready to go.

The background is collaged from an old prescription. I figure anyone that happy to clean must have some "mother's little helpers" nearby.  Cheesy She's saying the words I'd most want to hear: "Let me tidy that up for you!"

Hopefully she'll work hard for Knickertwist.  Smiley

274  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Jolly Elf Paperdoll on: February 27, 2009 12:32:33 PM
I love a creepy clown. I also love Christmas. I made this little nutcracker elf to celebrate both. His body is one of those metal frames that look like they are soldered. The images are from collage sheets from Alpha Stamps, and the very cool wand is from ArtChix Studios.

Don't worry, he doesn't bite!  Cheesy
275  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Bird House triptych on: February 03, 2009 06:12:56 AM
When I was participating in the Chunky House swap, I made a little house with a bird on it. I loved the way it looked so much that I decided to make a triptych with another bird image and a nest to go with it. The house on the right is the original house, and the other two were added later. I used the cutest little hinges to attach them together. Why is it I love little hardware so?

Ingredients used: scrapbook paper, Chinese fortunes, vintage stamps, nest and egg image from Italian wrapping paper, gold star stickers, bird images from an old textbook, rhinestones, Dresden trim, and some rubdowns. Everything is layered on sturdy watercolor paper so the houses will stand unassisted.

Here's a little closer look. The tag tucks into the nest so the egg will be cozy. The first photo is a little truer to color.

280  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Little paper theaters on: January 21, 2009 06:18:22 AM
Alpha Stamps is now carrying little diorama boxes, and plenty of cool collage sheets to play with. I took a couple of the smaller boxes and made two little theaters. Each box was about 3 1/4" by 4 1/4" to start.

I call this one "The Lecherous King, Act I", because that's what it looks like this play would be about! I added some Dresden trim and a sea oat I picked up off the beach in Pensacola, Florida. (Note: the oat was actually lying on the beach, I did NOT damage a plant! That's a no-no.)

It's hard to take a really good picture of the interior because of the glass.  Tongue It's also a bit difficult to see the depth of these in a photo. This one has about 5 different layers so it's really dimensional.

Here's another one: "Circus Theater". It embraces my love for the clown.  Cheesy

I also used a bit of Dresden trim on that one. I love how that little bit of trim really adds so much to a project.  Smiley
