Anana is home, and he brought a great many things back with him from his stay with Eamea!!!

In no particular order, you're seeing: a Mario-themed pillowcase (under everything else), a couple ampersands (I can never have enough!) and so many magnets (the mousetrap things are magnets that hold notes and I can't wait to put them to use!!!), chocolate from Bissinger's (who, the note says, have been making candy in St Louis since 1927, wow!), a beautiful little pendant, an Egyptian zippered pouch and bookmark (Bastet explains why my cat didn't want to get off of the box to let me open it...) and, see it right in the middle? A GORGEOUS glass ornament!!! The light in the photo doesn't do it justice, but it's red and clear stripes like a candy cane and it's beautiful! Also from Cairo.

(Also, please excuse the mess in the background. I have not yet done my nightly tidy-up, because I was too excited to share with you guys!)

Thank you Eamea! Clearly, Anana was in great hands and had a wonderful time!

Anana isn't quite back from his last trip yet and I'm already signing him up to head out again!  Cheesy

Here's a photo of him from last round, around Christmastime:

After all this time in Virginia BEACH, Aurora finally got to go to the beach! Of course, it was starting to rain and I was worried about getting towed and it's going to be rather cold later, but still... the beach!

This is next to the Old Coast Guard Station... several pieces of ships on permanent display outside.

24th Street is my favorite place to access the beach. There's the Old Coast Guard Station (on the left), a little park and stage with live music in the summer (on the right) plus the best candy store around and a Walgreens, for souvenirs and necessities. This shows the boardwalk (clearly no longer made of boards) and if I'm not mistaken, the little hurricane symbol to the left of the street number means it's meant to help prevent flooding during hurricane season. (Seems to work, at any rate... during any given hurricane that actually hits us, you'll see the weatherpeople down there filming and some idiot is windsurfing down the boardwalk.)

This one's my favorite... just Aurora and the beach! It was too cold to go down to the water... I'm dedicated to getting a good LV shot, but not quite that dedicated!

Now that I have beach photos, I think I can finally finish Aurora's scrapbook!!!

Aurora and I went walking this weekend and discovered a small nature trail in my neighborhood! It was very cold but this week it should warm up again!

We also went to a fundraiser (oyster roast and local bbq!) for the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad, and got to see the old-timey ambulance they bring out for events:

Forgot to ask Alexampersandra:  what new ink did you get?

Oh, duh! Totally forgot about that part  Grin The best photo I have so far is from right afterward, before I even unwrapped it, because it's hard to take a photo of the back of your own calf.

It's a naaru from World of Warcraft. You can read about them here: http://wow.gamepedia.com/Naaru (Since they gave the ata'mal crystals to the draenei, which allowed the draenei to unlock and understand the mysteries of the universe, I have been known to refer to them as space librarians.)

Also... YAY EXTENSION! I always love having a little extra time with my LVs  Cheesy This week should be full of little mini-adventures.

Aurora now has the distinction of being the first of my LVs to get a photo inside the tattoo shop! (Usually I'm not there long enough in one sitting to need a stretch break, but this one was 3 hours so we took a minute, and I remembered to pull her out of her hiding place - tattoo ink is dangerous to a white LV! - for a quick photo.)

Aurora went with me to the VBSPCA for volunteer orientations this weekend, but it's a lot of dirty work (cleaning the kennel and cattery, and walking a very excitable pupper) so there wasn't much opportunity for photos in all the excitement, plus they have a very detailed social media policy that I don't want to mistakenly violate.

But today we're purchasing a lot of books for the library to catch up on some collection development. I guess that's kind of fun.

I just discovered a new park I'd like to go to, right up the road from work... maybe that will be our next little adventure!

I got my pocket letter from noooitaremybirthday!!! And you won't believe it... BOTH of my partners went with the kitties theme! These are modeled after my Gimli kitty  Grin

I think my favorite might be the top middle ("I do not want") but that might be because that's how he's laying right now. The bottom right ("it was hopeless") is him a lot of the time too: pudgy little kitty loaf.

And the back...

Stickers and washi and clips, oh my! Also a little wooden hedgehog fell out when I picked it up; so cute!

And I can't leave this out because it made me smile so much:

The envelope it came in!!! (When I saw it, I said "ooh I have mail!" and my husband joked, how could I be sure it was for me?)

I love it all, thank you so much noooitaremybirthday!!!

Now I've received both... I have to get my butt in gear to finish and send out!

I received, from geekgirl1000100! I got it last night after my volunteer orientation for our local SPCA, which was appropriate because...

KITTIES! (This also helps explain why my cat wanted to sit on it. Or that's just because he's a cat and it's a thing and cats want to sit on all the things.) They're such little cutie pies!

And here's the back! I forgot to take a photo after I pulled out all the bits and pieces but I'll edit and add a photo tonight!

I love it so much, thank you geekgirl1000100!!!

Cairo, Illinois, or Cairo, Egypt?  Grin
Ha ha!  I can't believe you even know about Cairo, IL!  While I have been through there on my way to Kentucky, this time I am headed to Egypt.  I import belly dance costumes and then travel around peddling my wares.  I usually have one buying trip each year, but I didn't want to mention anything until I had firm travel dates.  My mom and her friend are coming, so Anana will be sure to see some of the sights I wouldn't normally go to.

To be fair, I misremembered and thought the American Cairo was Indiana but I looked it up (we librarians are always doing that... hard to shake the habit). I can't wait to see Egypt photos!!!

Meanwhile, Aurora had a fun trip to Mt Trashmore, highest point in Virginia Beach, former landfill turned city park. It's an excellent Pokemon Go hot spot and I have a new year's resolution to hatch an egg every week (it sounds more fun than "walk X km each week").

That's the city seal on the side of the "mountain" (even being from Tidewater, I know it's barely a hill). It faces I-264 so you can see it from the interstate as you're entering Virginia Beach. Also a great kite-flying location.
