1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Solder-less Glass Slide Pendants on: February 07, 2012 08:38:25 AM
I had a couple of cool ideas for pendants, so I picked up some glass slides over the weekend and set to work.  And then I ran into a small problem.  I need a way to pretty up the edges and add a bail.  I know this is usually done with foil tape and soldering, but I've never soldered anything before.  And I like to use things I already have on hand if I can.  So I was wondering if I could use polymer clay.  I'm sure the glass would be fine, but I plan to affix my images with gel medium, and I'm not sure what that would do in the oven...  Undecided

So.  Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.  Thanks, in advance!
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Altered Magazine Art - Engel der Nacht on: January 31, 2012 01:10:02 PM

This piece started life as a magazine page, which I adhered to a canvas with gel medium.  I then used a combination of gesso, acrylics, and colored pencil to alter the original image.  Very little of the original survives aside from the pose.
3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Typewriter Keys/Printwheels on: September 14, 2011 08:54:50 AM
Hi, folks!  I am currently looking for old typewriter keys (not the ones that you push to type, but the part that actually strikes the paper) or printwheels.  Or, alternatively, any old, rusty, junky typewriters that I could disassemble.  I've had some luck on Ebay, but most of what's there is new printwheels, and I was really hoping to find something old and used - something with character.  I thought somebody here might be cannibalizing a typewriter for a different purpose and have some of these leftover or something, so here we are.   Smiley

4  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Greetings! on: September 13, 2011 01:02:44 PM
Hi, folks!  *waves*

I'm new here, so I thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself.

My name is Regina, and I am a craftaholic.  I dabble with a little bit of everything - jewelry making, polymer clay, stamping, calligraphy, sewing, knitting and crochet, cross-stitch and embroidery, drawing and painting, collage...  You name it.  I love trying new things and learning new techniques, so I'm always adding to the list.

I started trying to sell some of my work a couple years ago, and after my very minor success dwindled to nothing, I got very discouraged and took a bit of a vacation.  Now, however, I've gotten my inspiration back and plan to start selling again at a different venue.

Right now, I'm busy unpacking.  My girlfriend and I have just moved into a new house and we're still buried in boxes.  All of my crafty goods are still packed up, and I swear I'm having craft withdrawals.  So I intend to hang around here and ogle others people's creations while I work on unpacking and setting up my craft space.

If you're on Twitter or Facebook feel free to follow the links in my profile and add me.  I'm new to both and could use some cool, crafty friends.   Smiley  You'll find a link to my blog there, too.  It's quiet at the moment, but I'm currently writing a review of some cool scrapbooking software and I'll be posting it along with a giveaway sometime this week.

Now.  Enough rambling from me.   Lips sealed
