1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: fall/Autumn hoopla on: November 12, 2014 10:12:56 AM
I love this so much!  It is my first collected hoopla!  Thanks again!

2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Yet Another TM Patch Swap R3!- Gallery on: November 01, 2014 08:35:29 AM
Yesterday I receive two beautiful patches from elderflower.  The first was for "Hobbit" theme and was a wonderful surprise.  A embroidered Smaug with his hoard!

I got out my copy of the Hobbit and found Tolkien's drawing and knew I was right!  This is my second patch in the Hobbit theme and so I'm so happy.

A little closer look at Smaug.  The beading of his hoard would tempt any dragon !  I love the fabric it is subdued almost like the dragons breath has caused a fog.

The second patch is of a kitten which elderflower crocheted with such tiny thread.  Filet crochet is not easy to achieve and her stitches are impressively even.  Maybe if I ever get to that part of the world I can meet her and get a lesson.

The kitten is so sweet and the little ribbon a nice touch.

The kit elderflower sent was over the top!  Here are some pictures.

She sent some crocheted kittens, purple ribbon and hand dyed threads in lovely purples.  I have been wanting some hand dyed threads from South Africa for a long time!  Thank you!

She also sent some lovely fabric pieces including a lovely black velvet and some stones.  I think they are amazonite and amethyst.  Also included was some stuffing and she put it in a plastic case from Air Zimbabwe.  I love collecting containers like this, Thank you again for all the thought and work you put into such a lovely swap.

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Fall themed hoopla on: October 26, 2014 01:10:55 PM
In the recent hoopla swap I made my first hoopla.  Taking a water color my mom painted, I scanned and print a portion onto fabric.  Then using a technique called opus plumarium, stitched on large leaf leaving the rest plain.  I thought that the contrast of the flat background and the stitched DMC thread leaf came out beautifully.  I will definitely try this technique again.

Thanks for looking.

Hi!  I'm still alive but just!  I've been down for three weeks and the doctors finally stopped doing tests.  Barium!  It has been hard to keep up with everything but I finally had an idea for TM swap patches!  So when I finish making 31 things for an October advent project I will be free again!  Actually I am very excited with the topics my partner picked.  Definitely a challenge!  Then I can get back to making TM patches for an Edgar Alan Poe tote.  Seriously need to cut down on the number of projects I've started!

I received a wonderful Fall Hoopla from pinkmichk.  Beautiful stitching and my favorite Fall activities combined to make a wonderfully personalized hoop.  I absolutely love it, thanks pinkmichk!  Beware, lots of pictures.

Over all image of hoop.

Oven with mitt.

Apple tree in the back yard!

Thanks for a great swap!  Thank you Homerof2 for hosting!

We should've called this round Embroidery Hoopla Rnd 12-PROCRASTINATORS. LOL! We're terrible. I am completely finished now and will have it in the mail tomorrow :)

My problem is I always forget the custom form!  This time I will get some extras so my boyfriend doesn't have to come back with one to fill out!  Either that or stop swapping with crafters in other countries.

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: OTT October Holidays 6 GALLERY on: October 15, 2014 10:21:25 AM
I received my OTT from Calabaza yesterday.  At first I didn't even see the box on the porch it was so small!  She sent me a lovely pumpkin ornament.  The pumpkin was made by wrapping thread through a bead and was very well done!  She placed it on a spool decorated with homespun yarn and seed beads.  Thank you Calabaza for a very sweet ornament.

Thank you all, especially irid3sc3nt for hosting this fun swap!

First I owe Crazyda79 an apology for not posting the cute magnet she sent with the other goodies.  I have been completely brain dead lately and I'm so sorry to keep you waiting.

I wanted to say thank you again for everything!  I loved swapping with you!

I thought I would post to prove I am still kicking!  So far I haven't a clue what to make.  Just need to sit and play and I'm sure something will come too me.  Glad to be in this swap again!
