1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Cherry potholders! on: January 02, 2007 11:54:34 AM
I'm in the process of doing the "retro" kitchen theme.  This is a great idea!  Great potholders!
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: T-Shirt Quilt on: January 02, 2007 11:52:19 AM
I opened this up to see the t-shirt quilt and GASPED when I saw it was MU.

Incredible quilt.  I'm anxiously awaiting the tutorial! Smiley  I used that same fleece last Christmas and the matching panels for some gifts.

I'm a Marshall alumni or is it alumnus?  I grew up and still live in Huntington.  My grandfather was a biology prof. at MU in the 80's.  It is extremely cool to see some people from the area on here.  Small world huh?
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: My wife is creeped out by me chrocheting....... on: May 04, 2006 11:08:02 AM
I have a beautiful granny square afghan (which my 3 year old got a hold of with scissors) that he made me.
Wouldn't that be a grandpa square afghan, then?  Wink That's cool.

HA!  I guess so.

My dad always crocheted.  I have a beautiful granny square afghan (which my 3 year old got a hold of with scissors) that he made me.  I think it is totally cool when men crochet or do other hobbies like that.

I have a girlfriend whose boyfriend sews skirts among other items for her and bakes cakes and stuff from scratch.
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Problem with my gauge? on: May 04, 2006 10:10:46 AM
No I didn't but that is a good idea, thanks.
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Problem with my gauge? on: May 04, 2006 07:56:57 AM
I made a prayer shawl/wrap and it is beautiful.  The only problem is I discovered when I laid it out that the bottom is more narrow than the top.  I am so frustrated because I always tend to do this when making something.

Here is a rough sketch of what I mean (and I mean ROUGH SKETCH):

Any suggestions on 1) how to fix this and 2) avoid this happening in the future?
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: I just sewed through my finger. on: May 03, 2006 07:48:24 AM
When I was 9 I was walking through my grandmother's house and a sewing needle broke off in my foot.  You couldn't even tell anything was up in my foot, all you could see was like where something had pricked my skin.  I kept insisting that something was in there but it wasn't until a week later and my mom saw me running around at church on my tiptoe that they finally took me to the doctor.  The needle was just ready to pierce the bone in my foot but had gotten stopped by a pocket of infection.  I had to be hospitalized for surgery to remove the needle.
8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Crafty But Stupid: YOUR CRAFT RELATED INJURIES HERE! on: May 03, 2006 07:30:58 AM
My family at one point threatened to take away my hot glue gun because I kept burning myself with it.

I am in South Point, Ohio.  I'm a Marshall Alumni.
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: Photo magnets as a gift on: January 05, 2006 09:17:56 PM
I've done this too using the pictures from my desk calendar.  Last year I had a Mary Engelbreit one and I used those pictures.  This year someone gave me an Anne Geddes one and I've been saving each page to use for this purpose.
