1  COOKING / Dessert / HELP ME! cupcake frosting question for daughters b-day party on: May 26, 2005 10:08:09 AM
Hello all -
my daughter is having a huge birthday party on Saturday.  30 kids! I am making cupcakes for the kids to decorate-- should i allow them to frost them too?  and if so can i prepare the frosting in advance?  What recipe to use for the frosting?  By the way the party is a camping theme-- i have some gummy bugs and worms for them to use as decorations-- any other ideas?  any help would be greatly appreciated!  Craftster Rocks!
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Guitar themed messenger with a pick pocket! on: April 22, 2005 11:04:27 AM
Hello all-- me again, I have another bag to share.  When I started making the messenger bags-- my rocking 17 y/o guitar playing brother begged me to make him one.  Well, I was a bit hesitant about fabric choices - I didn't want it to look girlish. I found great gutair themed fabric at equilter.com.  I used black tweed fabric for the outside(very plain) and the guitar fabric inside, the outer pocket is lined in gutair pick fabric and then I used clear vinyl for the "pick pocket" - it holds 3 picks! pun intended- LOL Tongue.  Hope you all enjoy it.  I used very heavy interfacing-- this bag is heavy duty!  I had some problems with the vinyl-- it was very slippery to work with any suggestions??  Thanks!

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My first few messenger bags on: March 26, 2005 04:44:02 PM
Hello all, I have been hanging around here for the last few weeks and I have been very inspired!  Thank you for all of your creative energy- you guys are amazing!  So, here they are my first 3 messenger bags.  I have the feeling that I will be making a lot more.  (these are pretty basic)

Just cut and paste this into your browser - http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/nrsshasta1976/album?.dir=/a09e

First one is made of olive green canvas and lined in lime green and torquise plaid.  It has a kitty iron on- that my 6 year old daughter picked out.
Second one is made of brown drapes that i found at the thrift store- I lined it with brown floral print that I got at Jo-annes.  I put some glitter on the front-- I am thinking that I might still embellish with some sequins or beads???  What do you think?
Third one is actually not finished yet- it is made of corduroy patch work (I got the corduroy from the thrift store- in it's first life it was men's shirts Cool.  Still, have to add the strap.
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Hello All- New Here and feeling too inspired not to sew on: March 24, 2005 03:55:27 AM
Hello-- I have been lurking around this awesome site for a few weeks and I am oh so inspired to create something wonderful.  I ran to the fabric store yesterday and was so disappointed that corderoy was so stinking expensive.  [8.99 a yard!  So, not letting that get me down- ran over to the thrift store.  and spent 26.00 and come home with a ton of stuff!  Including a jean jacket for my brother (I am going to sew guitar picks on it for him) and I even got some holly hobby sheets-- that is what my nursrey was done in when I was a baby!  I just wanted to post and say thanks for the inspiration!  I am making my first messsenger bag today for my daughter. I have it cut out already- but, should I do my embordery on it before i sew it all together???  Thanks! Shana Huh Huh
