1  Rainboot cuffs & Mini Tutorial! in Shoes: Completed Projects by bromimeoke on: July 10, 2011 01:51:31 PM
This isn't really a clothing post or a shoe post, just a "plain-to-cute" spiffing up post. I went shopping looking for cute rainboots but most of them only matched one or two things in my wardrobe. So I bought a simple black pair with buckles on the side. And I now these boots are made for walking! Grin

To make the cuffs, I simply measured around the top of my boot and added 2 inches for seam allowance. Then I took that measurement for the length and about 8-10 inches for the width. I sewed up all the rough edges and in the end had a tube of fabric. Then I just tucked about half/most of the 8-10 inches into the boot and rolled the rest of it over the outside. (I recommend putting the liner on your leg inside out, stick your foot in the boot, then slip the cuff down inside, roll it over, then adjust as needed.) If you make it long enough, they can cover buckles and such, or you can whip up some cute bows to slip onto the buckle straps like I did! (You should be able to find a basic bow tutorial on Craftster if you need help. Smiley ) Fast, simple, and super cute! Very easy for a beginner and easier to sew than a full liner.
