311  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Pocket Letter Swap 1 (SU Apr 28-May 6 ; SO June 6) on: April 30, 2016 08:13:53 PM
I checked out pocket card holders today just to make sure I could find some before I decided to commit to this swap. Of course any time spent on this means less time I have available to spend on my Canada Meet Up items. That's okay since I'm just down to the special item for AIMR.  Grin

Or Little Miss Muffet sitting on a tuffet vs. the spider with its legs hanging down.

Lindy, you either have to quit posting yummy looking food or you have to invite me over to help eat it! (You know which I'd prefer, don't you?)

The mittens are wonderfull, that1girl. I know they must have been deeply appreciated.

Tex, all the shirts look perfect! Don't know which I like best.

I am cmarion3 and I am fake joining the Topys Turvy doll swap. Send out May 24 ( I am making one for my grand nephew and we fly out that day. Air mail!)

I'm really swamped right now, but was looking for something to make for my first grand nephew. Maybe a dinosaur/primitive boy doll. I'll think on it. Though the skirt bit is a bit strange for boys...at least until they decide to wear them themselves. LOL. Hmm, maybe an inside out doll.

Instead of a skirt why not make him sitting or standing on a rock? It could be roughly the same shape as a skirt and would work for the boy and the dinosaur.

My church youth group and Girl Scout troop both did a lot of service projects, but nothing on the level of DM. It's an amazing program.

Not sure I caught every shot of Lana, but I spotted several, including when she was being a speed demon behind the Hawaiian ice machine. So glad our Craftster friends have had an opportunity to help such a great group of kids. I'm so proud of all that they're doing! Wish there was a DM group in my area.

Gala, maybe you could let the kids make practice matzos (using playdough or pie crust) to begin learning the skill but NOT to be eaten. Then you could make the actual matzo while they observe. Would that work?

LBBB, I always think of the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow (Are my Irish roots showing?). You could put gelt.
Jello makes a very pretty rainbow dessert when you layer it in a goblet or other clear dish plus it tastes good but doesn't cost a fortune. You could also add food coloring to cake batter, then layer it in a bundt cake pan to make rainbow slices.

The Rainbow Fish books would also be a great basis for the theme. Then there's Rainbow Pony as well. Either would make a great pinata or game, cute decorations, potential to turn them into short skits, make cookies in those shapes, use them for banners or wall hangings.

For favors you could color rainbows on shrink plastic (from any clear #5 or #6 plastic container), then use the shrunken pieces to make necklaces, earrings, keychains, charms, zipper-pulls, etc.

I've been worried about quaggy because of where she's located, but didn't realize you were in the flood zone, texscrapper. Glad to know your home and family are safe. I think carolmb and donniesgirl may be affected, too. Anyone else we should be concerned about? I saw some of the flooding in the Dal/FTW area last June on my way to Arlington. The North and South Canadian Rivers in southern Oklahoma were well beyond flood stage then, but the Red River between Texas and Oklahoma was even worse. Hope it's not that bad now.

Fluffypants, thanks for the recipe links. I mentioned the Key Lime Loaf to Zalphinian. She definitely approves!

I've been mostly finishing up some crafts I had kicking around, and doing a LOT of baking. I have photos of pretty much all the baking, but do I want to make everyone hungry? Wink

Sure you do! At least then those of us on restricted diets can visually devour your goodies even if we can't actually consume them.
320  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: the 'redeemer' quilt on: April 19, 2016 09:27:57 PM
It reminds me of a giant box of watercolor paints. Great fabric therapy!
