Ok... so I have been bitten by the 'must knit socks!' bug. I have a handful of patterns to try and plenty of sock yarn and got most of the way finished with my very first sock only to realize... I have fat feet and fat ankles =/ I am horrified. Not surprised though since the rest of me is more to love, but since I've never had issues buying regular sized store socks...
I have been using this pattern and the yarn in the picture that I got before they discontinued it because I love stripes and think they are cute..http://www.knitpicks.com/Toe+to+Top+Striped+Socks_PD50493220.html
But seriously, these things are sized for a 98lb twig. Its knit side to side and then kitchener stitched to make the tube, then you pick up stitches on two circulars and work the toe around.
I'm so discouraged. What do I do to make socks that will fit my funky feet... besides lose weight of course, which is an ongoing battle. Measuring these beasts it has turned out that I have a foot that is 9" circumference, an 11" ankle at the ankle bone, and from the base of the toes to heel about 8" long. eeek.
I should have measured my feet before beginning of course, but since they don't give the measurements for 'women's medium' - I was just kinda hoping they would fit knit as per pattern since I'm a foot size 8.5-9 in shoes and buy regular socks w/o issue.
I have 3 other knitpicks patterns I want to try but now I think none of these will turn out right and since I haven't even finished my first pair, well, I'm not real confident on how to alter the pattern for fat feet.
I want pretty socks like everyone else lol /cry
