31  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / AVery Weasley Bookmark on: December 09, 2014 04:38:45 AM
A simple make, but I'm pretty pleased with how this came out - the bookmark has charms to represent the weasley kids (and pets)

An Egyptian charm for bill, a dragon for Charlie, P for Percy (or prefect or pinhead), a banana skin for the prankster twins, a weasley is our king crown for ron, a quidditch player for ginny, plus pigwidgeon & errol - all on woven embroidery thread strings
32  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / stocking stitch coin purse on: December 04, 2014 05:40:20 PM

the outside is actually there wrong side if the stocking stitch... Does that have a different name?
Anyway, i had done of this firefly yarn by sidar left over from a project but not really to my taste gthe friend who the original project was for choose it), so i whipped up.a coin purse for my neice; I'll give out to her at christmas to keep any money or vouchers she gets in

Woven on a peg loom -as a thank you to my Daddy for making me said loom  :-)
Cotton yarn warp, wool weft (varigated yarn), with vintage buttons sewn on (size is adjustable bu doing it up using different buttons to get different lenghts).
Very simple but i was pleased with how it came out.

34  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / 'junker Jane' style art doll; Sea Soaked Sally on: December 04, 2014 05:08:38 PM

I wanted this little one to look like she'd been washed up on a beach. Took inspiration from Tim Burton illustrations & junker Jane dolls. Head/arms/legs are hand dyed linen, body is crayon tinted cotton. then i soaked her repeatedly in salt water  :-)
35  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / 24 little parcels; an advent calander on: December 04, 2014 11:42:53 AM
I collected 24 little silly gifts, and individualy wrapped them to make this advent calander...
I used all sorts of bits of stash paper & ribbon/string to wrap and number each one, some in paper, some in tissue, a couple in fabric - and different lettering & number stamps to lable them - within a sort of shabby chic craft paper with green, red & gold highlights theme

Then i presented them in a box :.an old hinge lid type shoe box, which i covered in brown paper so that the lid still worked, and lined with gold tissue. Then i 'closed' it with an assortment of different twines, and left it to be discovered
36  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / small gift & candy sleighs on: December 04, 2014 11:22:37 AM

I saw candy sleighs on pinterest, and tonight it wad a great way too parcel small gifts, s if they are sitting on the back of santa's sled. I wrapped the gifts in craft paper first, used glue dots (like for mounting photos) to secure the construction - and i get to my parents they will sir in three fake snow at the base of their tree
37  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / rainbow cake topper, and left over beads... my first clay work! on: December 02, 2014 08:13:04 PM

I realise this is crazy simple compared to what you guys do, but i had fun and was happy with the out come; a rainbow cake topper for my friends rainbow theme party

I messed up my first go, all the colours got smooshed together... So i used the messed up clay to make some beads too

Can't think what I'd do with them since they are rather irregular sizes! Oh well, stash them and I'll find a use sooner or later i guess
38  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / monkeying about on: December 02, 2014 06:51:12 PM

A friend was in a production of Inherit the Wind (a play about the score monkey trial) so i made this first night card; it's pretty simple negative space using an old copy of a dawkins book on evolutionary history, embroidered and layered onto card. But I was pleased with the effect  :-)
39  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / The Hermione Award on: December 02, 2014 06:38:30 PM

I designed this to look like a medal or award plaque - hermione in profile done in stem stitch (and lettering the same)... And the filigree thingy boarder is my first go at feather stitch  :-)

It I'd to honour the recipient for being (like hermione) an insufferable know it all... A fine compliment indeed and well worthy of recognition
40  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / my first crayon tint! Old John hoop on: December 02, 2014 06:31:24 PM

Old John is a landmark on the skyline near where i grew up - it's a folly a top a bloody great hill so it's hard to miss!

For this hoop, i stained the fabric to age it, then embroidered the outlines in stem stitch, and had my first go at crayon tinting.. Fun, but I think I'd use the technique differently another time
