I'm super mad at myself since I also have something finished for the MVW prompt, but I forgot to take a photo, and I won't get to it in time because I'm away for the weekend - I'm so daft, I forgot that quidditch finished before the end of term! Grr!

Aaaaahhh I have been meaning to hand these in and can't believe I'm cutting it so close to deadline before doing it! Cripes!

Pinterest pixie; please don't pin these images, add they include photos of kids :-)

Ok, this is basically one project that I thought would take an afternoon, but actually took a month... For my nieces birthday I made her a personalised version of Guess Who with all her family as the characters. She sometimes gets a bit lost in her family as her parents are separated and both now have children with their current partners, so I think she feels a bit like piggy in the middle on occasion. I wanted to remind her that she had her own, completely unique and special family who adore her

Challenge; quidditch starting whistle
House; ravenclaw
Project; big cards

The first thing was to collect photos, edit then to size, print them off and mount them onto card to be the playing cards

Challenge; quidditch half time
House; ravenclaw
Project; small cards

The next step was to make the smaller images that would go onto the game boards, also mounted onto card and stalled with names :-) hopefully, the game will be very entertaining (and indeed my neice spent all afternoon of playing it, so it must be!). Cutting all 48 of these to size, very carefully with a Stanley knife, was NOT entertaining at all!!

Challenge; quidditch catch the snitch
House; ravenclaw
Project; game boards
They have updated the format of Guess Who, and I didn't think I could work with the old one; but a friend swapped me my new, specially purchased set for his old one (big thanks, big relief!). I dismantled all the tiny flip Windows, cleaned everything, sprayed the main bodies of the board gold and silver, and reassembled, putting my own pictures in place of the old ones

Challenge: quidditch warm up
House; ravenclaw
Project; game box
The old box was a bit bashed, with a torn part on the front of the lid. I prepared it for years of future use by spray painting it, and making a new front cardboard panel to go on top covering the tear - I used a scalpel to stencil out the words 'guess boo' (boo is the nickname we have always called my neice. My family is big on nicknames), and decorating it with some extra photos - also individually backed onto card to give it a good 3d quality

Hmm, not sure. I usually use the last couple of weeks of semester to inspire me to get any last bits finished and handed in, ready to start again new in the new term.
To my mind, if you do the majority of work on a project in a given semester, it's fine. It's brute to be getting on and crafting, rather than waiting around for the start of term! But I'm not sure, what does mistress Jennie think?

If nothing else, you can hand then in as WIPs that you finish for detention prompts, as long as you do at least half an hours work on them in the relevant semester.

Class; apparition
House: ravenclaw
Project: painted postcards
Slytherin Treasure Hunt; 5. Pygmy puff
I decided to add a little colour to the postcards, but still leave them for the kids to colour in. I used my friend watercolor pencils, which I've never used before so took some deliberation and care!

I used my cat's fur by observing it to paint this part, I wanted to get the colours and direction of lay right!

Class; flying
House; ravenclaw

This toddler sized bear hood will turn my friends kid into a little honey seeker!

Class; MR
House; ravenclaw
I used fishing line and lead weight to secure these quidditch figures in a fish tank! It's hard to get a photo because goldfish don't pose, and it's a spherical tank so it's hard to see all the pitch on one go! There are goal hoops to :-) the electric.water pump makes all the difference because it makes the cloaks flutter

Challenge: quidditch goal
House; ravenclaw
This set of postcards celebrates by awesome niece!

Challenge: quidditch pep talk
House: ravenclaw
New babies can be hard work, but dressing then up all cute can lift the spirits!

can I go through and see if some items fit prompts and classes and submit them?

Yes that's fine,  as long as the item fits the rules of HPC (eg was made this term,  took more than 30 minutes, etc).
Personally, I never make anything to fit a prompt ; I make what I'm planning on and then find a prompt to fit Smiley

deputy Head Noodle casts a Homunculus charm.... we are here!

Hello Hogwartians!
I am preparing a special series of craft promts for you for next term, and decided to give you all a heads up about one aspect of this (hopefully) exciting challenge so that you may prepare yourselves if you wish....
you will have the option of working in TEAMS of up to 3 people for this challenge, reflecting the way team Potter / Weasley / Granger worked as a team and used their different strengths to work through challenges together!
I thought some of you may like to start discussing who you may like to work with in advance of the first part of the challenge being announced, hence this announcement.

obviously I don't want to give away too much about this challenge, but here are a few things you may like to know when sorting teams out...
 - you DO NOT have to be in a team. You can play as an individual, a pair, or a trio.
 - the challenge will be a series of craft prompts, which your team will need to complete in the specified order to qualify.
For example: if Mistress Jennie, FiberAlchemist and Abbeeroad are a team... maybe Jennie will craft for the first prompt, then they will decide that Abbee is the best person to craft for the second prompt, then Fiber for the next.
They may then decide to work together on the 4th prompt, with Fibre and Abbee each crafting a small element, then both sending those to Jennie for assembly, or maybe with Jennie drawing a design and emailing it to Abbee for her to build. There will be no requirement to craft in unison like this, it's just another option should you choose to use it Smiley
How exactly each team distributes work is up to them to negotiate on
 - your teammates do not have to be in the same house as each other; this is about working together and not letting petty divisions of house divide us! For each individual prompt completed, the specific team member who finished it will receive the house points, and the whole team will progress along the challenge. for prompts. In situations where you craft in unison with members of different houses, each house will recieve points.
 - you will need to DECLARE YOUR TEAM before you complete the first prompt Smiley

Feel free to ask questions, though I can't promise to answer them as I don't want to spoil the challenge reveal! There will be time to sort out your team during next term too, so new HPCers are in no way excluded! this is just to give a little head start to those who choose to use it

Challenge: Bean, horseradish
House; ravenclaw
I write postcards to my niece and nephew every week, I thought it might be fun to draw some up using these beige blanks instead of buying them! I've done a letter of Bethany's name on each card, sorry it's a weird photo, the drawing is faint so hard to capture! I can't decide what to use to colour them, our maybe I will leave them for the kids to colour?

Challenge; Detention, June
House; ravenclaw
My nephew thinks these postcards spell his name, but secretly they are messages for his cat, written in code and then labelled so that kitty knows where to find them..

Challenge: Quidditch tune out
House; ravenclaw
I finally got a chance to sit down and update my smash book! I did a couple of months worth,
which still leaves me behind, but if I can get my are in fat yo get a couple if photos printed off I'll catch up soon (neeeeever gonna happen....)

Subject; History of Magic option 2
House; ravenclaw
I intend on making an entralac turban for my cousin, which will resistant the 4 Hogwarts houses;
- it will be slytherin green
- it warms the ravenclaw mind
- making a gift is a nice, hufflepuffy thing to do
- my cousin is SUCH a Gryffindor! There would be zero hatstalling!

I intend to knit this at work, during the half everyday when I have to sit upstairs waiting whole the audience come in. I think if I work fairly quickly, I can get a tier done every day, which means in total my turban should be done in exactly 3 weeks :-)
