2701  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing ATC Swap for July 2011 on: August 11, 2011 08:52:10 PM
I received this card from Jillybeans its striders knife from the lord of the rings! Its awesome!!! Also the background is a page from the lord of the rings itself! (I hope the book survived! Cheesy) Its shiny and very awesome thanks for sending me such a great piece of art! It will start my knife atc collection out nicely!

The book was falling apart before I decided to craft with it.  Of course I didn't throw it away, and I had been saving it for an occasion in which I could incorporate it into something.  We have another copy of the book in our shelf, this was just a very VERY old and battered one that was being used as a wedge to hold up our old computer.  lol  (sacrilege?  a little, yeah)

I'm glad you like it!

teehee that flying "appliance" is too funny!  And ABC's of a kitty's life!  What a cute theme!  I'm totally missing all of the new themes people are coming up with.

I'm lurking, since I'm not actually in this swap.  ^_^  I hope September will be less crazy so I can join again.

2703  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Hair Accessories Swap on: August 10, 2011 06:34:09 PM
I received from my second partner, zigg13pra!  That was a quick swap!  lol

Here is the whole package of hair accessory goodness!

A headband, scrunchies, and a hair clip and bobbies!  YAY YAY!

First off, my favorite item:

A headband covered in batik fabric!  oooOoooo!

A felt flower hair clippy!  The colors remind me of spring.

Crocheted (?) scrunchies!  I love the variegated colors!

Another flower hair clippy!  Totally cute!

And flower bobbies!

Yay yay!  Thanks for the wonderful package, zigg13pra!  I hope yours makes it to you soon.  It said it was suppose to get there today, but USPS didn't post that it was delivered, so hopefully tomorrow.

2705  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Re: What do you do with your carved image? on: August 10, 2011 04:51:57 PM
Oh those are super cute!  You did a great job!!!
2706  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Zelda and Mario Stitch Markers on: August 10, 2011 04:02:28 PM
I tried my hand w/ Fimo clay for my swap partner in the Video Game Swap.  She requested stitch markers for knitting.  What nerd is complete without a set of nerdy stitch markers for nerdy knitty?  Well she is definitely complete now!

Ocarinas from Zelda and Mushrooms from Mario!

The ocarinas ended up having a lot of fingerprint ridges, and I wasn't sure what to do with that.  I guess I could have sanded them down, but I didn't, since they were so small.  I painted them w/ regular acrylic paint and added a clear coat to them afterwards.

Thanks for looking!
2707  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Fawful Stuffie! on: August 10, 2011 03:55:14 PM
For the Video Game Swap, my partner listed Fawful from Super Mario Brothers as one of the characters she likes.  I was clueless as to this character, but after some research found he would a likely canidate for a stuffie, and I was determined to make a geeky stuffie!  I could have done a moogle or something more common, but this was one that had never been done before.  So I printed off a picture and went to work (w/ my limited stuffie making knowledge).  I did all the sewing by hand (and manly in the car driving back and forth across Washington state on vacation), so it did end up taking me a long time to do.  My family gave me many confused looks as I was stitching away.  "Fawful??"  For the most part, they are all nerds and figured out who it was after I told them which video game it was from.  "Oh, from Super Mario Brothers, I think I remember him."  But still gave me weird looks for picking such an obscure character to do.  Meh, its what my partner wanted!  ^_^

Upclose and personal w/ the dastardly man himself.

And him posing w/ a picture of himself that I used as the inspiration.  Normally he has legs, but I opted for legless.

His body and jacket are made from fleece, his eyes and mouth are felt.  I wanted him to be pretty much snugglie (despite his maniacal nature) so that why I opted for fleece over felt for the most part.

The picture doesn't show it, because at the last minute I realized that I forgot to add his little wisp of black hair on the top of his head.  I did that w/ puffy paint.  ^_^

Thanks for looking!
2708  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Chocobo and Moogle Tote bag on: August 10, 2011 03:37:30 PM
For the video game swap my partner listed that she likes chocobos and moogles from Final Fantasy, and totes!  So together, this love child was made.

I found the image for the design online here:  http://silverdragon27.deviantart.com/art/CHOCOBO-and-moogle-22994772

Here is the finished result.  I used the freezer paper method, which I'm still new to but I am loving!  I did the base colors with different layers of stenciling and then painted on the black lines and some details.

And here are some "work in progress" shots:

Here is the first layer of freezer paper ironed onto the bag awaiting paint.

And here is where all the base colors are down.  I use the triangle sponges that you use to apply foundation for the paint.

Thanks for looking!
2709  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Ongoing ATC swap discussion thread--3.0 on: August 10, 2011 10:21:15 AM
I plan on opening the swap up on Sunday for the theme swap!

Ooo yay yay!  I can't wait!  I will have to diligently think on what theme I want to start.  I have some possibilities roaming around my head.
2710  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: 2011 r3 mini 13 days of Halloween(signups CLOSED. Send outs 25/9) on: August 10, 2011 10:12:01 AM
GAHHHHHH I just came up with an awesome idea that I wanna try now!...but I'm stuck at work, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

lol!  That's the worst!  I usually spend the rest of the day obsessing about the idea and don't really focus really well on work.  We should all just quit our jobs and do full time craft swapping.  If only the world paid us to do swaps.  *sigh*
