1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / American Goldfinch on: March 24, 2013 01:51:41 PM
Ive had these old oak pallets for awhile that Ive really wanted to do something with. And yesterday after messing for a bit I came up with this.

It is an American Goldfinch painted in acrylic on reclaimed oak. 20 1/2 inches tall by 15 inches wide. Im not quite sure what Im gonna do with him yet, but I will shop him around friends and family then go from there. I do know one thing though, it weights a friggin ton. Its a good 7 lbs, so I need to look into a good mounting system for hanging.
2  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Graboid (the movie Tremors) on: March 10, 2013 06:36:01 AM
Thanks for all the love Smiley. This is one of those projects that when I was done I was totally thrilled. I'm glad to see there are other fans of the movies on here too.
3  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Graboid (the movie Tremors) on: February 26, 2013 03:40:29 PM
WHAT WAS I THINKING?! I was just going through my posts and I was shocked to find out that I never posted this on here. Back in  early september 2012 I sculpted this, a Graboid monster from the movie Tremors. It is 3 inches tall and about 6 inches long poly clay painted with acrylic and clear coated. If you notice one of the tentacles is cut off and bloody. Just like in the movie.

4  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Mini Movie Monsters on: February 25, 2013 01:43:08 PM
I dont do alot of work with polymer clay, but today I had a vision for a quick project. So a few hours later I now have Mini Movie Monsters.

And just for a size comparison.

They turned out ok for a quick project. Im thinking about remaking new ones and trying to get as much detail as possible.
5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Batman on: February 20, 2013 11:55:53 AM
I recently bought the complete Batman the Animated Series DVD set and have been totally immersed in the world. So in honor of the Bat I started painting a set of the characters. So far I have two done, but I want to add the Joker and Batgirl. Maybe I will paint even more but I have so much that I want to paint that I may have to take a break from Batman art. These are both 11X14 acrylic on canvas.

The Batman

By the way, heres a link to my Batman ATC's I did last year.
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / The Punisher Skull on: January 24, 2013 02:04:03 PM
Heres a painting that I just finished today. Its an 18X24 acrylic on canvas painting of the skull logo from the comic The Punisher. I took the more symmetric, black and white logo from Marvel, and "roughed" up the shape and added some shading. I think the outcome works well, unique enough to be mine but still recognizable as The Punisher.

7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / TMNT on: January 13, 2013 11:17:42 AM
Heres a set of paintings I did a few months ago. A 4 piece set of 8X10 acrylic on canvas of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Spock on: December 07, 2012 05:09:43 PM
Heres a painting I did a few months ago for an uncle of mine. Hes a big Trek fan and Mr. Spock is his favorite character. I was sketching out a few ideas for different paintings and I came up with this. Its an 11X14 acrylic on canvas painting of Spock in minimalist style.

He is proudly displayed next to an Enterprise model.

Sagan rocks and so does your pop art rendition!
As a Saganite I salute you!  Smiley
Wonderful! I just rewatched The Cosmos. He's so great.

Thank you all very much. Finding more art/science geeks gives me hope for the world.
10  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Saganomics on: November 26, 2012 07:23:16 PM
This is a painting I did for my cousin back at the beginning of the year. Its my take of a "pop art print". I used freezer paper to make a reusable stencil to transfer the image. The painting is of the American astronomer, astrophysicist and cosmologist Carl Sagan. Sagan is most known for is PBS series The Cosmos, and he is a favorite of my cousin.
