1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Long Flowy Flowery Shirt on: February 26, 2011 03:45:23 PM
Sweet top.  I absolutely adore this style of shirt and it looks great on you, especially with the belt.  As the others, I'm looking forward to the tutorial!

draw if it's in your hair.  Still perfectly accessible in the event of danger!

I agree, plus you have the element of surprise. Especially if they tell you to put your hands on your head... Bam! Stupify!

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Gigantic polo to cute sleeveless top on: February 23, 2011 05:23:19 PM
The gathering happened because the shirt was so wide.  I sewed up 4" of the arm holes as well and then folded the weird sticking out part that was created because of that forward and sewed there.

That is a horrible description and I think i might actually post a tutorial if I make this or something similar again.

I'm so glad you liked it!

So, I've had this huge polo shirt I got from 'youth in government' day when I was in high school for about ten years.  It was time something was done with it or else it was going to be gone.  I figured I'd make something up as I went along since I didn't like the thing anyway.  I think it turned out cute and I plan to try this design again on something in a better color/fabric

Here it is before (inside out so you can't see the chest logo)

Just beginning To cut/sew

Finished product!

Even with the folded over collar area, you could still see the logo through, so that's why I put the flower on.  I ripped apart an embellished hair thing to make it.  I really like the finished product.

beautiful and magical!  I especially love the ravenclaw ones.  I like the idea of putting them in your hair, even as a wand.  Why stow something so pretty in your pocket?  It's just as easy to draw if it's in your hair.  Still perfectly accessible in the event of danger!
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: waterproof fabric on: February 19, 2011 08:56:02 PM
Ripstop fabric isn't waterproof in itself, but silicone impregnated ripstop nylon is.  There's non ripstop silicone impregnated nylon too.  I'm not sure where you can buy it though.

Hooded towels are so sweet.  A great gift.  And anything rock-related is just that much cooler!  I love it.

Absolutely gorgeous.  I am awe-struck.

I remember people having these when I was little.

I do think the bias tape would work.  And D rings would be great.

I just might have to make one.  So useful!
10  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Outgrown baby clothes? on: February 19, 2011 07:28:16 PM
It might be fun and would be totally doable to make them into doll clothes.
It's super common for people to take in too-big adult clothes to make them smaller, so why not take in baby clothes to make them fit a doll?
