391  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Moonlit Garden - with pics of process on: July 08, 2011 09:52:15 AM
Really nice work!
392  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Weighted Blanket Done! on: July 08, 2011 09:49:23 AM
I'll bet that was time consuming, what with the extra "bean bags" to make in addition to the rest of it.  I don't think I would put a backing on it.  It would have to be quilted so that it didn't sag and separate, and if you do that then you'll lose the raggy edges.  If it ain't broke don't fix it.  Wink
393  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Vintage Chic Baby Quilt for Benefit Fundraiser on: July 08, 2011 09:43:35 AM
I can't help with pricing, but I love this quilt!  I'm a bright color person, and the prints are wonderful.
394  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Quilts - mostly recycled fabrics on: July 08, 2011 09:41:32 AM
I'll bet those are heavy and toasty!  Did you have any problems quilting through such a heavy material?

Freakin' adorable!  I'll bet she loved it.  Shoot, I want it for my own self.  Smiley
396  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: I need an experienced opinion on how long/how much money this will take me...? on: July 08, 2011 09:33:10 AM
I have to second anaximander's advice.  A whole piece applique is really the only thing that will keep your design intact and be relatively simple.  Even if you stuck to one color of red and used a grid system I'm not sure how it would look.  There are some sharp and unusual angles, and if your pieces don't meet up the outline will be wonky.   I just don't see this as being a first-time piecer's quilt.  Sad
397  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Combining Colors/Themes on: July 08, 2011 09:24:32 AM
I'm in the middle of a team colors mash-up quilt myself.  My nephew loves the Mizzou Tigers (black and gold) and the St. Louis Blues (blue and yellow).  Both teams also have white on their uniforms.  This pattern works up quickly since each block is about 14.5".  I picked the colors for him, but I picked the patterns for her.  The florals and batik kind of girly it up a bit.  Wink

Here's a look; hope it helps!  The bright yellow bit at the bottom is the backing & binding.
398  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing ATC Swap - JUNE, 2011 on: July 08, 2011 08:55:02 AM
I didn't think I would ever say "What a cute zombie!", but darn if gozer's card didn't do it.  The pop up kraken card is pretty cool!  I love that the front is so unassuming, but the guts are killer.
399  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Snack Swap Four! CLOSED Send Outs 13th July on: July 08, 2011 08:48:05 AM
All the snacks are bought, so it's time to let the crafting commence!  I had grand plans for yesterday, but things fell through so tomorrow it is.  No, really!

Love the glitter bird!  It probably sheds like a mofo, but it's definitely worth it!
