We are in the second day of a three day ice storm, and I'm happy to say that in two weeks we'll be far removed from this business - Anana and I are going to Cairo!

I hope everyone is on the mend!  I'm grateful that so far I've avoided the really nasty stuff it seems like so many here are dealing with.  Unfortunately for Anana just because I've been well doesn't mean he's been hitting the town.  It's been pretty slow around here.  I did take him to my first shivah, and he assured me that the smile was for the treats and not the occasion.

He also got to see the largest Amoco sign.

Even though Anana is a boy he was allowed to come to girls' game night.  He sampled some local brew,

modeled the Speak Out mouthpieces with my friend Lani,

and helped me play Cards Against Humanity.

Hope everyone has an entertaining and safe New Year's Eve!

Anana has been all over for Christmas.  We've had to spread out celebrations to accommodate work schedules.  Last weekend we went to Cape Girardeau (about 100 miles south) to my aunt's house.  Here's Anana modeling amongst the sweets.

He helped with cookie decorating at my mom's house,

and then jumped in the sleigh full of ornaments (I think he thought it was a tub full of shiny bubbles, but he's admitting nothing.)

Each year we watch the Doctor Who Christmas show, and Anana seemed to enjoy it as well.

I guess it didn't hurt that he found a friend to hang out with.

It sounds like we have all been either crazy busy and/or sick!  Over the last several weeks Anana has had quite a bit to do.  The History Museum has a special toys exhibit, and Anana was happy to help those who needed it.

We spent the morning checking out the other exhibit halls, then we headed to the Courtesy Diner for a late lunch.

We rounded out the day with a visit to White Haven.  It was Julia Dent's childhood home, and she went on to marry Ulysses S Grant.  They lived there for about five years before he became president.

I started a seasonal job sewing at Mother Earth Pillows, and Anana has been a good helper in many of the departments.  Here he's checking out the packaging from the inside.

We sold at a craft fair this past weekend with dismal results.  We wallowed in dark chocolate peppermint pancakes to make up for it.

It's probably really hard to see, but there is a vague pineapple-shaped shadow on the left enjoying the super moon.

Anana and I voted today.  This is the first election where I didn't really want any of the candidates to win.  Sad

Anana made it safely to the midwest!  I was just finishing some hand quilting, so I let him put in a few stitches.  I feel so honored to have such a famous LV in my home.  Grin  Completely unrelated, but having him here is taking me back to high school.  I was learning French, and this was probably the most fun word to say.  Add the word for "a" and it gets even better: un anana! (Clearly I am easily amused.)

Daisy is adorable!  I sent Aurora off today to visit Alexampersandra in Virginia.  I had barely opened the box and she jumped right in.

Aurora made it home safely, and lucky for me she didn't come alone.  Wink

This is the scrapbook of her Montana and beyond adventures along with a picture painted by stellato_escuro's daughter.

She brought home some books with wonderful pictures of Montana.  s_e even worked with one of the photographers!  She has most excellent taste I might add, as The Far Side is one of my favorite cartoons ever.  The framed pictures she took on her grandparent's property in South Dakota.

s_e found an Art-O-Mat!  I've heard about them, but I've never actually seen one.  I received a pendant and a piece of decorated glass (can't wait to put that in a mosaic!).  I have never tried needle felting (don't really trust myself with that one), but I do like it.  I'm chuffed to have this cute little cottage brooch!  There's also soap, a watercolor card, and ephemera from exhibits/places Aurora visited.  DH and I went up to South Dakota years ago, and we absolutely loved it up there.  Like an idiot I didn't pick up a Wall Drug bumper sticker, but she sent one so I can cross that regret right of the list. LOL

Thank you, stellato_escuro, for taking such excellent care of Aurora this summer!
