1  Re: Can't Get Enough Disney Swap! in The Swap Gallery by gnomedrops on: July 13, 2011 11:29:36 AM
This is my daughter on a typical day. Never far from her Micky and Minnie. You can't see, but in her back pack, there are two more little Mickey and Minnies, and a third Minny that is entirely pink.  So, it's safe to say, she's a fan.

She was very excited to get a package today in the mail, and quickly took EVERYTHING. Hence why I had to take pictures of it while she was holding it. I apologize, she is a tiny beast.

MissDisney was awesome to include a super cute outfit for her, it's great and she loves it.  We also got some bracelets, which my darling took, and wore. Three, for Red Queen, Alice, and Cheshire Cat. I am quite the Alice fan.

But my favorite piece was probably the little Door Mouse painting. I shall be adding it to my wall as soon as I can. The Door Mouse is a seriously under appreciated character, so I'm totally stoked.

She also sent some earrings, which we can't wear because we're not peirced, but we might be in the future, so I shall hoard them. Sadly, my daughter seems to have hoarded them first, cause I can't find them! they were pretty though, and dangly and blue Smiley very Alice.

3  Re: Doctor Who Swap round 6 gallery in The Swap Gallery by gnomedrops on: June 02, 2011 07:29:36 PM

So, I have not yet heard from my partner and it has been quite a bit since I sent, but I am holding out hope that I wasn't flaked on even if...well. anyway, since I know she's gotten the package, I am posting what few pics I have.  I made a Sonic Screwdriver pen and TARDIS notebook set.  The Dalek is actually a coin bank, he turned out pretty neat. And finally, I made a Face of Boe flask that took forever and a day. Sculpting is not my skillz.

I had these super awesome post cards made up and ordered special for the swap. I totally kept some for myself.

Okay. So I saw this on Regretsy, and I had to share.  In interest of keeping with a crafty Dr.Who theme, how cool is that lego dalek?

the requirements are to create one tiny thing in any medium (knit, crochet, sewn, needlefelted, clay, paint, papercraft, jewelry ect), based on your partners preferences, that is roughly under 5 inches in any direction (though with things like jewelry, of course, there are size exceptions).  Quality work! Consider this a 2 point swap, and take your time to send something really awesome.

Don't know what exactly constitutes as 2 points?

By Points
Medium=2 points

By Time
-Medium=2 or more hours

By Price
-Medium=$10-$30 dollars

It doesn't have to be two hours AND cost 10-30$. It can be either or.  It might be difficult to take two hours to make a necklace, but it could easily cost ten bucks, like wise, it could take a while to crochet a cracken, but probably won't cost more then five bucks. The point is quality.

Discuss gratuitous extras with your partner, please! No one wants to feel like there package fell flat.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

Name of swap: Alice In Wonderland OTT
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name
Mailing address including the country
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside your own country?

In what mediums can you make goodies (sew, knit, crochet, paint, sculpt etc)?
What mediums would you prefer to receive?
What AiWL animals, creatures or character would you love to get? (Give at least 3 options please)
What do you NOT want?
Which Alice is your favorite?
Favorite Quote?
Anything else you want your partner to know?

Also, remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find other rules about participating in a swap.

7  I like turtles! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by gnomedrops on: May 09, 2011 10:08:26 AM
So, I am fairly new with ami's,  only having  made about five in my life.

But, I decided when I signed up for the One Tiny Stuffie Swap, that I'd do an itty bitty ami for my partner, who liked sea creatures.

I've seen a lot of jelly fish ami's but I wanted to do some thing different, and still on an easy level for my noobness.

Thus, the baby sea turtle was born.  He's palm sized, and pretty stinkin' cute.

The turtle part is made of this really thick green yarn my mother in law gave me that needed a huge crochet hook but I did it with a tiny one so it would be super tight. The shell is Red Heart Super Saver in Buff.

I'm glad you like him, rockergirl15!  I've never made anything quite so tiny.  He's pretty much actual-baby-sea-turtle size. My daughter tried to steal him.  She's kind of a plushie klepto.

he kind of looks like he's racing. toosh all up in the air.

9  Re: Amigurumi Addiction 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by gnomedrops on: April 18, 2011 11:54:05 AM

pkwj asked me to post pic's of my dragon I sent to her, until she gets a chance to post her own pics Smiley

He didn't photograph very well (er...or my camera isn't really the best, but um...I'm blaming the dragon). Probably because he's fleshy and pink.

He's very ruffly. And he has a fumanchu. Those are both wins in my book.

10  Yummigurumi. in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by gnomedrops on: April 18, 2011 10:49:33 AM
So, I've been crochetting for years (one of the first crafty things I learned) but I'm fairly new to making amigurumi.  I signed up (for my first swap) for the Amigurumi Swap and let me just say, I think I'm addicted.  This is the first little guy I made. He's pretty easy, just squares and circles, but I think he turned out adorable, and now have to make more.

I'll admit, there was some angsting about chocolate-on-top versus chocolate-on-bottom but for the sake of melty cuteness, it went on top.  I used eyeshadow for the blush too, on a whim.

For my partner, I also made this dragon. He was a bit more complicated (getting the legs the same size baffled me) but, he's very ruffly and fleshy-pink, so I like em'.  I did the spiral-thing on the ends of his wings, to make him look a little less cartoonish.  The picture isn't the best, but he has eye sockets, and a ridge going all the way down his back, and a total fumanchu mustache.  If I had any idea how I made him, I'd make another, but honestly, he was kind of touch-and-go.  Now that I'm looking at it, this picture is really awful, lol.

Anyway, C&C welcome for my first ami's. *winces*
