1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Pointy Kitty Stuffy! on: July 15, 2006 05:16:23 AM
Just thought I'd post pics of my pointy kitty, Sasha! She's a participant in the Little Visitor Swap, travelling the world without me. I sewed her up the week before she left. Pattern is available at Wee Wonderfuls.

2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Paint, then Mod Podge? on: October 17, 2005 03:51:32 PM
Okay, so I found these little unpainted stiff cardboard boxes at Michael's that you can decorate. I painted one with acrylics, then, because it scratched the paint when I put the lid on/took it off, I mod-podged it. Now it kind of sticks.

What can I do to paint something and seal it without the sticking problem?
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / A few knits... on: October 16, 2005 01:55:28 AM
I had some pictures on hand, so I thought I'd post a few things I made! Smiley

Made a kitty hat out of some cheap Caron yarn, coupled with some not so cheap Crystal Palace Fizz - so warm and fuzzy! Everyone loves it, though some people in town seem to think it's a devil hat. *shakes head* People are nuts.

The pink tubes are armwarmers, which I'd love even more if they weren't pink, but... Well, all I had was the pink yarn. It's Lion brand Landscapes. No pattern used for the armwarmers, just knitted up a tube as long as I liked, and increased every 5-6 rows to make it a bit wider near the elbow!

Lastly, I knitted up Knitty's Branching Out scarf, which I hated at first and promised the thing away to a friend. Only after I was done did I realize I loved it, and by then... well, it was too late. All I have left is photos! Anyway, I knitted it with Southwest Trading Company's Bamboo, which was delightful to work with!

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Samhain gifts! on: October 06, 2005 01:38:42 AM
Hey. I know there's a few pagans on here - anybody have some Samhain gift ideas?

Fimo's on sale at Joann's (or maybe it's Michael's? I forget...) this weekend, and I'll probably buy some, and maybe make some little bowls/altar plate stuff. But anyone got any better ideas? The only things that are a definate 'no' are candles and incense, as the friend I'd be giving a gift to is in a dorm that doesn't allow them.

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Tiny Gifts! on: September 23, 2005 12:59:58 AM
Hi! Long time since I've been on here... been too busy knitting to hunt for other ideas! *laugh*

But here's the thing... I'm beginning now to gather ideas/plan out Christmas gifts, and while I'm making everyone a knitted washcloth & some homemade soap, I'd like to give those closest to me more special gifts. For my closest friend, I'm planning on giving her a gift-advent calendar. I'm going to be taking 25 little boxes (think, small matchbox size / halloween candy box sized - you know, those mini boxes of junior mints & dots? - a mixture of those kind of boxes) and filling them with nifty items, so she gets something to open every day!

However... my first plan - a charm bracelet and charms - is going to be a weeee bit expensive. While I still plan on giving her a charm bracelet and charms, I'd like to fill most of the boxes with other things.

Ideas? I'm going to put a bit of candy in a couple boxes, and maybe, but I'd like some more ideas if anyone has any! Look for very inexpensive (under $1 per item) things, or even better, things i can make for very little $! A mixture of both is good, actually!
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Custom Planner on: February 09, 2005 08:41:15 AM
Looking to make a *very* custom monthly/daily/life planner. I've got a huge list of ideas for things to incorporate (gleaned from a variety of threads on a variety of forums), and lots of enthusiasm, but I have a few questions for those of you who've done this before - or those of you who haven't, but have ideas anyway. Smiley

What size of a planner do you use? Anybody made a full size one (8x11)? I'm wavering on my resolve here - a full size planner would be super easy to make, with no fussing with making things work properly in Word and whatnot, and my 3 hole punch isn't adjustable, but it seems a bit large. Then again, I'm planning on stuffing *tons* of things in there, so maybe that's best anyway... But I'd like to know your thoughts on it.

What do you use for binding? A regular 3 ring binder? Smaller 6 ring ones? Kinkos? Smiley

How much stuff do *you* pack into it? What are some unique ideas that you've done?

Has anyone created a calendar based on another calendar system and used it with any success? I spent yesterday creating a calendar based on the moonwise calendar from (www.moonwise.co.uk), which is a lunar calendar where the last day of every month is the new (dark) moon.

Anything else? Smiley
