project-wonder embroidery

this is a quote from a book my partner recommended in the undercover fandom swap.she wanted a fabric journal page, so the edges are left unfinished. stitching text always takes time, but I also like the idea of slowing down to enjoy the wonder around us. it's hard to see, but i added clear and silver glass beads to add sparkle to the stars.

project-painted stones

Our town library is next to park. they are encouraging people to paint rocks, hide them in the park, and when they find one rehide it for someone else. I turned on of my rocks into a mini landscape, the other is a goldfish in his own little pond. I hope they will be a nice suprise for whoever finds them. i used a protective spray so they will hold up to the weather.

project-speak freind

I believe freindship and hospitality are important. I purchased the base of this, and added the quote "speak freind and enter" from the Lord of the rings.

project-catan patch

He may not be a rabbit, but he is soft, and white. I added extra padding under the white felt to make him extra fluffy.  this sheep patch was insipired by the board game catan.

project-4x6 art

for this swap instead of starting with a theme, you start with a 4x6 blank space, and fill it with art work.

i started with watercolors, then added colored pencils, and finished it off with one of my favorite poems by Robert Frost.

project-sun canvas

. This was a quote my partner liked from "i'll give you the sun", a book I hadn't read. so of course i read it. I attempted painting the canvas with the quote in the center but it wasn't working. then a search on pinterest lead me to my first attempt at  blackout poetry.  then copied the page the quote appeared on, and outlined it along with other words that spoke to me. , and It covered up the mistakes in the center of the canvas.

*i origionally posted the wrong picture, so this is the correct one.

project-'blackout' art

I had made a 2nd copy of the book page, so I trimmed it down and used it for the 4x6 art swap.
also for the 4x6 art swap I created this fun colorful piece of blackout art. I started with a bookpage and drew boxes around the words and phrases that I liked usually your would draw a line through, or cover the words you weren't using with black marker. i saw an example on pinterest where they had drawn into that blank space and I thought it was really fun. The artwork is also a lot less realistic than my usual style,so it was really fun

Thimbles71- i'm so glad it arrived in one piece. I really enjoy working with shrinky dinks. The gold is a sharpie, and the other side is done with colored pencil. The clear is easiest to find, but they also sell rough for colored pencil, or you can sand it yourself.

My package from Thimbles71 arrived yesterday. she really loves to sew, and tiny things are hard! I opened the tiny box to find, this creative card, and pretty pouch

The pouch has a zipper, and a bright blue lining, with a 2nd pouch hidden inside.

Inside the pouch was this daffodill peg fairy, and 2 fabric magnets. The 'he is risen magnet' is my favorite part.

it's all so charming, my puppy wanted to check them out too.

I just love it. thanks so much and happy easter!

the satin edge give the harry potter patch a nice shine

she said that the leaves patch was her favorite, and I have to agree. i love the variety of textures with the beads and buttons

my kids have been home for spring break this week, so i'm so far behind on the gallery. looking forward to some quiet time to catch up. I recieved this set of patches from crafty_becky. her stitches are so tiny! I really love all the work she put into these. the veins on that leaf are lovely.

my favorite though is this dobby's sock patch! i'm a huge harry potter fan.

I'm also looking forward to creating a patch with these yellow and blue fabrics, and the blue glass beads...

thanks so much!

fiberalchemist- love the quote on the frame, i don't know if you are familiar with lego dimensions, but the gimli character also unlocks the character in the video game is you have the lego dimensions system.

muahahaha-the prancing pony is beautiful.

insalaeffchen- the cape with the yellow flowers is so beautiful, the models are cute too. My daughters are triplets, and i miss them being little and playing dress up. now they are 14, and headed to high school!

I recieved from Mandykaye yesterday. the package had gone wandering, but finally arrived with no harm. My daughter Leah is currently reading the book series, so I let her fill out the survey for the swap. she's 14, and helped out with the package we sent as well. Mandykaye was kind enough to send duplicate items so we could share.

It's hard to show the details in these charms. the mushroom (hobbits love mushrooms!) has a deep purple crystal for the stem. The other is a dragons eye, with scales etched into the clay.

she also sent 2 paintings. smaug soaring over the company of dwarves looks great with my daughters bright green walls

I get the fellowship of the ring, with my favorite quote

she also sent these hand drawn bookmarks, with Leah's favorite gollum

and this beautiful view of the misty mountains.

there were also chocolates wrapped in gold from the dragon horde, but those are disappearing quickly. thank you for being such a thoughtful partner. we really love the package!

I recieved from Onyxnox. It's hard to show in a photograph, but the textures are amazing on this. her note said that it's mixed media, with glass bead medium, texture past, and crackle medium.

the word 'soar' has a raised bumpy texture, the swirls on the left are pressed into the surface, and the background has a crackle finish over the top of a map. it's such a cool piece!

Another book quote from the undercover fandom swap, the quote about wonder, had me thinking about stars in the night sky, and taking time to appreciate the world around us. the quote is embroidered onto fabric for a journal page, alonge with a scattering of glass beads on the galaxy print fabric.
