101  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: Resin Question on: February 05, 2005 10:46:16 AM
I'll be sure to post pics when I have them...there's a definite shortage of resin projects on craftster (relatively speaking anyways). Do you have pictures of your stuff up somewhere?

I really want to make a picture frame, but I don't want to buy a mold (I blew most of my money on resin and candy molds already). I know it can't be that hard to make my own, I'm just not too sure what to use. The guy at the art supply store didn't know...guess I'll just have to experiment.  Smiley

My mom has made stuff out of candy and gingerbread cookies before. I'm almost positive she used shellac on them, but I can ask her for you.

I'm not sure how many of you use resin...I've played with it a little, but I've only made little things like magnets. I don't know what kickstarted my imagination; I suddenly got all sorts of ideas and not enough practical knowledge of resin to follow through (yet).

If I wanted to make my own mold, what would I use? Would wax work? Clay? I don't have a dremel, so the easier it is to make smooth, even surfaces the better.

Also, has anyone ever made a picture frame before? If I want it to be a standing-type frame, how would I create the back?
