I like how just the front gathers on that dress. Good choice of design! Are those beards or trim on the sleeve or skirt?

Wow, it's November! When did the happen? Guess it's high time I officially join this round of the Games by submitting projects!

Prompt: September chemistry

Bonus Points:
Project Name: POWerful macaron coin purse
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: I made this for one of my many aunts. Like my other macarons, I glue the insides to the outer shells.

Prompt: Red alert Halloween
Team: Randomizer
Bonus Points:
Project Name: Pumpkin Harvest
Project Link:
Brief Description: Twas a rather puny pumpkin harvest this year- in quantity and size! The Jack-be-littles, while the smallest of the smalls, were the most prolific! I do love pumpkins. They're one of my favorite Halloween symbols. One of my favorite costumes that I wore was of a different produce. I went as a baked potato!

Prompt: October geometry
Team: Randomizer
Bonus Points: giver
Project Name: Deerstalker AKA Sherlock hat
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: I made this hat courtesy of this awesome pattern. It went very smoothly! The only real trouble I had was getting it to print out the right size. I ended up saving the image to my computer and then telling it to print out at 100%, as a commenter suggested. I also used firm, sew-in interfacing in place of buckram because it's what I had around. I made the hat for my co-worker to wear volunteering at our school's Halloween event.
Project Picture:

Prompt: zap #3
Team: Randomizer
Bonus Points: giver
Project Name: "black bag"
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: My co-worker took the precaution of a good coat and a short friend. While she went as a fem Sherlock, I dressed up as a fem Watson. I added a red cross to a black bag I had lying around. Very much a zap.

13  Attack of the Killer Rabbit: Death Awaits in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Calabaza on: September 16, 2016 02:55:57 PM
The rabbit of Monty Python fame now staring in its own film! Or, at least, pillow that looks like it might be based on a film poster:

I played around with images courtesy of the Internet and played around with them and fonts in a word processor to make this. I kept the background gray so I wouldn't use up all my ink.

A trip to the photocopy place made it big enough for pillow purposes.

Next up was tracing the design onto freezer paper to iron on over an interfaced piece of black fabric so I could cut out the design and sew it over pieces of interfaced white and red fabric:

The back features a deep lapped blind hemmed zipper and some blood seeping through by the flangs:

Gorgeous artwork and what an intriguing flower!

The shibori is beautiful as is the metal stamped jewelry.

Ha, I love that shark and the mouse and your take on fox pillows. He looks so comfy.

The embroidered towels look absolutely professional. I will be clicking that link!

But first, my FANTASTIC goodies from Smeddley:

An entire Doctor Who collection! There's a super long scarf. It's 2x+ as tall as me! Then there's fingerless mitts, which I love wearing over those cheap $1 gloves to keep my hands warmer but still able to use my fingers. And last but certainly not least, there is a stellar beanie with a bow on the side. A nod to another Doctor? I'm thinking yes.

Awesome, Smeddley! Thank you so much for everything!

Be-a-u-tiful costume!

Those PE bags are awesome and, oh my gosh, SQUIRREL GIRL!

How ambitious of you to make all those gift bags!

What a cute little bear and good for you for making all those shopping bags! Little projects take a lot of determination to finish sometimes.

Bonus Points:
Project Name: dress
Project Link:
Brief Description: The mockup in preparation for the navy dress...ish. The navy dress wasn't supposed to turn out either. The fabric of this one's even more unstable, so it need a belt (it has no waist seam) and had to have some help at the neck. A little gathering and some trim (which qualifies it for craftology) fixed it enough to wear. This project required pattern making, hand sewing, and machine sewing.

Yesterday, I spent my birthday working on...

Research Project Name: costume
Team: analog
Brief Description: I treat myself to a costume a year. Though I've spent some time on one idea, I may flit to another scheme. Either way, it'll take at least 3 more weeks of crafting off and on for something to be finished and, either way, will be a challenge to me because:
Techniques will need to be researched/reviewed.
I'm taking classes.
I made 2 costumes last year, so I can say I've made 5 costumes in 5 years if I don't get one done this year. As much as I love costumes and costume making, that out is going to be very tempting to use!

Prompt: zaps
Team: analog
Medal Event: foodology
Bonus Points:
Project Name: syrup ice
Project Link: I explained the syrup part here.
Brief Description: A friend of mine freezes grape juice to drop into sparkling water for flavor. I decided to do the same with homemade raspberry simple syrup. It freezes about as much as a popsicle: Not quite solid, but good enough. And tasty!

Medal Event: foodology
Bonus Points:
Project Name: curtido
Project Link:
Brief Description: I used this recipe for curtido, a sort of El Salvadorian relish. The recipe claims that you can serve it after 2 hours, but DO NOT do that! I did, and, boy, did my mouth not thank me for it. Wait a good 24 hours and youll be all right. Im thinking 48 will be even better.
Oh, and I just used bagged coleslaw mix instead of chopping my own cabbage and carrots. And I used red onion because that is what I had. Lazy, but effective.
Project Picture: see below

Prompt: June 24 carrot
Team: Analog
Medal Event: foodology
Bonus Points: engineering
Project Name: chilly enchiladas
Project Link:
Brief Description: Chili pepper was an ingredient in the enchilada sauce I used to make these, duh, enchiladas. Chilis are hot, but the enchiladas became chilly when placed in the freezer for later.

To make:
2 normal cans refried beans
1 chicken (from the store rotisserie because I am lazy)
1 can of sliced black olives
2 big cans of enchilada sauce or 4 normal ones (I used mild because I am a wuss)
Cheddar cheese, grated
20 tortillas about 8 in diameter (because thats how wide my pans were)

Carve the chicken and cut meat into little pieces and place in a large mixing bowl.
Dump the refried beans in there too. And the olives.
Pour 1/2 to 3/4 of a can of sauce in there and mix it. It should be gloppy, but easy to stir. This is your enchilada slop.

Optional: Line foil pans with parchment paper.

Pour some sauce into a shallow pan or bowl. Slide a tortilla through it so that its coated with sauce. Place in the pan. Put one handful (it should be gloppy enough to grab a handful) of enchilada slop in the middle/near middle of the tortilla. Spread the slop along the diameter. Top with cheese. Roll it up. Put the edge of the roll on the bottom of the pan. Repeat 19 times.

I made 4 pans of 5 enchiladas. I topped each with some more sauce and cheese. Be generous with the sauce if freezing. The long baking time (1 hour at 350F from frozen, like this recipe) dries them out, as I learned.

Top with curtido if desired Smiley

Ooo, a shadowbox magnet? Cool!

ActsofCraftiness, how did you make the cupcake toppers? They're really neat!

Prompt: May battle - Avengers
Team: Randomizer
Bonus Points:
Project Name: Ready Player One bag
Project Link: not yet

Bonus Points:
Project Name: Fringe hoop
Project Link:
Brief Description: It's a hoop, a hoop done with fabric markers, but a hoop nonetheless.
Project Picture:

Prompt:  National Craft Month
Team: Randomizer
Bonus Points:
Project Name: Haven keychain
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: I wanted to make my Undercover Fandom partner a keychain, but I didn't have a coordinating zipper for a macaron coin purse keychain. What to do? Try making just a keychain, no zipper. It worked. I still really like macrons, but I'll revisit this, I'm sure.
Project Picture:

It's not so blurry in real life!

Prompt: Zaps
Team: Randomizer
Bonus Points: (include which bonus points you think you've earned, e.g., Giver, Engineering, Community, UFO)
Project Name: Warehouse 13 mug
Project Link:
Brief Description: This mug began as one of the smalls for the swap. After three tries stenciling Leena's Bed and Breakfast in a font similar to that on the show and having it fail miserably, I switched from paint and a brush to paint in a pen. Not nearly as good lettering, but it stayed on, took very little time to do, and looks all right.
