1  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Dumpling Kitty on: May 17, 2017 07:52:55 AM
I made this Pusheen inspired Dumpling Kitty as a gift for a friend's birthday. Smiley

I used this free pattern on Ravelry. I really like the pattern & now I want to make one inspired by Pikachu. Cheesy
2  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Afghan Squares for Pine Ridge Reservation on: May 16, 2017 01:26:34 PM
I joined a group on Ravelry called Afghan Squares for Pine Ridge Reservation that knits and crochets afghan squares for Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, USA. The finished squares are sent to one person (Pam) who seams them together and sends the finished afghan to Pine Ridge. Pictures of some of the finished afghans are shared in the Ravelry group & they look great! Cheesy

For more information, you can check out the Ravelry group (you need to have a Ravelry account) or the original Yahoo group that Pam started (you can view the About page with the mailing address without joining the group).

Some of the guidelines for the squares:
  • Any color can be used, except all black (makes seaming difficult) or all white (looks dirty quickly)
  • Any patterns can be used - solid patterns without many holes are better
  • Any fiber can be used - warmer is better
  • If using wool, superwash is preferred (because it doesn't felt), and squares must be marked in case of allergies
  • Any size square can be made; 6" and 12" are preferred
  • Leave a 4-6" tail and don't weave in any of your ends Grin
  • If crocheting in the round, don't use a magic circle/magic ring

Here's the first batch of afghan squares I sent; the next batch I make will be more colorful, but I was using up a large bag of yarn I got at a garage sale. Cheesy

Some of my favorites:

(Southwestern Mosaic Cross Square)
