21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Dollfie Leftovers Hippie Dress on: July 21, 2010 02:56:35 AM
Using the Tute from https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=253190.0 here, I made this super fun dress out of fabric scraps from dollfies clothes! I have tons and tons of 1/4 yard pieces laying around, and this seemed like the perfect excuse to use them up!
I found the math she gave works pretty well. I used channels on the inside for my elastic on the top and underbust. It took a long time to cut each strip and then press each seam. I'm so not pleased with the result i want to make more, I find the skirt isen't full enough for my tastes, and there's to much fabric around the bust, thankfully that's easy to hide under a sweater or a shawl ( both of which i have terribly fond of)

I love my little cardi too, it's authentic vintage from the 60s. real chasmere and real pearl buttons. it was a gift from a house mom at a club i worked at in Dallas. I love it to keep my shoulders and back covered from the brutal texas sun. But my hubby loves me in sundresses, esp when we have company, so I've been going a bit crazy making super cute dresses ^^

Constructive crit is welcomed!
22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My own tshirt sleeve skirt! on: July 20, 2010 11:07:45 PM
Inspired by vicmes's skirt made of tshirt sleeves, i had to go make my own! I recon shirts alot and had a whole box of sleeves just waiting to have something done with them. I don't think mine came out as well as hers did, but it's different too. Either way hope you like it! <3

Thanks to the hubby for pulling himself away from Batman to take these pics for me!
23  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / LOTR Dress, What you Fave Quote? on: July 11, 2010 12:00:54 AM
So I'm making this funky Lord of the Rings Inspired dress, and I've been thinking I want to paint or embroider a quote from the books on the hem of the skirt. I had originally thought to do "I am No Man" because it was short, but now it feel it's to short and to... um well no one would get it. lol. So Where i need your help- What is your fave Lord of The Rings Quote? There are so many good ones how can i pick just one for this dress!

Thanks for the help ahead of time!
24  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 52 ENTRIES / Anna Feng Steampunk Avatrix out of bedsheets! on: July 06, 2010 05:33:48 PM
Ok, so i decided to take advantage of this challenge to work on a costume I have been planning for a while now. Her name is Anna Feng and she one of the Heros of the Steampunk book series The Hungry city Chronicles. After pouring over the novel for every shred of detail i could get on her costume i set to work designing this! I got all the bed sheets from thrift stores, all of which where whie save for the burgundy. The rest I had to dye. It was my first time dyeing anything so it took FOUR separate dyings to get the color i wanted. All of this is on my craft blog along with the rest of the creation process @ www.livejournal.com/users/plaid-boots I drafted my own patters, it was my first time making a pants pattern but I'm VERY happy with the result. I spent over 4 hours just doing decorative top stitching on the shirt pants jacket and Gaiters. the only items i did not make are the Hat, goggles, and Gloves.
The Pendent was custom made by my brother and inside carried a photo of a vintage African American aviator (as her boyfriend in the story, Khola is an African pilot!) I also made the hat pin out of an old necklace as her call sign is "The wind flower".

I hope you like! See more pictures and the whole creation process @ www.livejournal.com/users/plaid-boots

Happy Up-cycling!
25  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Nerdy RE-cons, Wow Guild Tabard, Portal, Rise Against on: June 11, 2010 09:07:04 AM
I can't stop chopping up t-shirts!
No t-shirt is safe near me!! LOL.

The first one I made is made from 2 t-shirts, and it was made to look like my World of Warcraft Guild Tabard.
AS seen here.

I bought this Portal T-shirt at a gaming conventions earlier this year and just loved it, but now it's so cute and flirty too. <3

Last but not least, my Rise Against top. I added channels inside the shoulders so i could run a gather cord through it. split the sleeves to make them hang all pretty (i can them butterfly sleeves, dunno what the proper terms is for them ><.

I cut out a few more, but I think their all on hold till after the Crafterster challenge! I'm working really hard on my bed sheet get up, are you?

Comments and Criticism welcomed!
26  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Crafting Tool Belt on: June 06, 2010 06:02:57 PM
So I don't know about you, but I'm ALWAYS loosing my tools when I'm sewing. Tailors chalk falls under the pattern, scissors disappear no matter how many pairs you have >< uhh its terrible. So i finally Got around to make a work apron for all my tools and notions!
Made out of Scraps I had laying around from making Dollfie Clothes. The solid Red is scarps from an old Bed Sheet.

Thoughts, comments, Criticism? I love it all!

27  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Upcycled Punk Shoplifting Purses (pics added of a THRID purse!) on: June 06, 2010 05:57:58 PM
A while back I was totally Inspired by Yamago (spain).
I bought a booked called Extreme Fashion by Coutenay Smith + Sean Topham. Inside they had a few pages on Yamago's totally amazing Jackets, pants and Bags with Ton's of hide away pockets for Shoplifting! Genius.
And as an Avid shoplifted (from giant corporations that deserve it, IMO) I wanted to take the great idea and make a purse that was just perfect for pocking pilfered pleasures!

So I started with an Awesome Skirt I got at the Thrift store, but It was to small, but to cool to pass up!
The lining of the purse is all just bits of fabrics i had around, I pieced them together, and added pockets to the inside, and a draw cord to the top (stolen out of the pants i was wearing when i made this hahah). The strap is from my old purse which was pretty much destroyed after a few years of good use. But the strap was still good so waste not, want not, ne?

HEres the secret to my stealing pocket. The fly opens up and you can slide things down between the outer wall of the purse and the lining. The lining is purposely made small and shorter than the skirt so there is lee way room inside to hide things. Maybe it be shoplifted, or simply 'illegal', no one gunna know it's there!
Keep it Secret! Keep it SAFE!

Close up of the print on the skirt. See, frikken awesome!

Through, comments, criticism? I like it all!

Remember the number one rule when shoplifting:
