That looks like being fun to try.  I am currently collecting cat fur to felt.... Funny how pets seem to shed... until you want them to

another great spoon! was it hard to carve the hole at the handle?

Thank you. The hole wasn't difficult to carve.  A lot of carvers cut out the basic shape with a band saw or scroll saw.  I carve the entire thing using chisels but must admit that when I replace the blade on my scroll saw I will start cutting out the basic shape with it.  It will save many hours

I have tried carving bone but it really dulls the chisels.  I had to keep sharpening them.  The end result was gorgeous but for the life of me I can't remember where I put it.

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Another Love Spoon. on: May 17, 2017 09:13:58 AM
Last year my son was throwing out his old pine bunk bed and asked me if I wanted the wood to burn on our wood burner.  I kept a few pieces to practice carving love spoons.  I really like the grain in pine but it isn't an easy wood to carve.  It is a bit splitty,

Thanks everyone.  The little flowers are indeed French knots.  The sun rays are little lines of stitching too.  I was experimenting with different techniques to see how they would look.  These ones are quite small.  About 8 inches by 10 or thereabouts. Lat night I saw a huge felted collage at a local village hall. I wish I had taken my camera with me as I would have snapped a photo.  Next time I go I will take a photo and share it here as it really has inspired me to make a bigger picture.
