23  Blueberry scones in Recipes and Cooking Tips by ninjamom on: April 24, 2011 12:59:34 PM
Homemade Blueberry scones from the KitchenAid Best Loved Recipes cook book

2 Cups all-purpose Flour
2 Tbs. Sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 Cup softened butter
2 eggs divided
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 Cup blueberries (or any berries, or plain is good too)
1 teaspoon water

1) Place Flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and butter in bowl.
Mix on low for 30 sec. stop scrape bowl.

2) Add 1 egg and the cream and the berries. Mix on low 30 sec.
until soft dough forms. Knead dough 3 times on lightly floured surface.
divide dough in Half. Pat each half into a circle about 1/2 inch thick.
Cut each circle into 8 wedges.

3) Place wedges 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets.
beat remaining egg and water together. Brush egg mixture over each wedge.
     Bake at 425 F for 10 to 12  minutes.

I top mine with a glaze of some sort. Sometimes it's lemon and sometimes it's raspberry glaze. I've also had them plain and like em that way too. up to you

***Note this glaze recipe is not included in the book I found it online and tweaked it till I liked it.***

1 cup powdered sugar
1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice (I have also used Lemon extract ) (or the juice from the berries!)
1 Tbsp heavy cream

mix confectioner's sugar, cream and lemon juice with whisk until smooth
(glaze should be thick, yet pourable).
Add more sugar or lemon juice, as necessary, to achieve desired consistency.

28  riding hood style cape in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by ninjamom on: April 15, 2011 09:13:27 AM
I made a cape for my toddler. blue on the outside and pink polka dots on the inside.

it's basically a circle skirt with a hood, made mostly of flannel and trimmed with blanket satin trim stuff.

I am totally teaching myself from scratch everything sewing related.  I know nothing!  so it's a bit jenky in some spots but I'm mostly learning by trial and error.

30  old shirt turned diaper stacker in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by ninjamom on: March 30, 2010 10:52:39 AM
This shirt was too small for me so I made a diaper stacker out of it.

no before pics but it was just a regular ol' shirt.

I cut the split down the middle, sewed the edges, and pinned an old pin to it, then sewed the bottom closed, and added a small flat piece of cardboard inside  to keep it flat.
