This is beautiful! Love the design and colors. It looks so soft and warm. Smiley

Thanks, yes you're right it is soft and WARM... which is good as I live in the french Alps, and always cold ! :-P

I used to be a knitter... then discovered crochet and haven't touched the needles much in the last years... but when a friend posted about Stephen West's amazing design, I knew I had to make it.. like NOW !  I went straight to my huge stash and dug all sorts of yarns in tones of plum and orange. Some super old vintage french yarns, some handspun and hainpainted that I had been saving for a special project... and i'm so thrilled I got to mix and use all together !!

That pattern was so clever and well thought, I loved every minute of the process. Although I have to say that using so many completely different yarns led to having to frog and reknit several sections... (not enough yarn to finish, or sometimes yarn proved to be too thin compared to others, or just didn't blend in fine..

As for the odd shape... it's not very practical when you lift your arms (everyone sees my tummy!) or to fit in a winter coat...
Yet I'm totally in LOVE with this sweater.

What do you think: Crazy or awesome..?   ;-)

16  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Dancing poppies baby bolero and booties on: February 13, 2014 05:35:19 AM
Hi, I have just finished a pair of little booties to match my dancing poppies baby bolero.

Having no babies at home any more, it looks like it would fit a 3 months old.. so tiny, so cute ! I used Cascade wool 220 for this set, I love this yarn, quite cheap and stands time well.

I made a second pair using icelandic Lett Lopi yarn... I just love the feel and look of that yarn.. I used a contrasting color for the sole of this one and can hardly stand how cute it looks !!

Now I'll try and come up with a matching little cardigan for those blue booties... Oh, and an adult version of the booties too. That's the beauty of crochet : there's so much to crochet !! Too many ideas, not enough time ;-)

18  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Sweater for my dog on: April 24, 2012 11:04:17 PM
I'm not usually a big fan of dog sweaters, but this looks cool. Granny squares are always winners in my book, and the colors you chose are very pretty together !
And I love to hear she loves wearing it :-D

Very cute, I'd love to have a 4-button one for myself!

Thanks ! I have a plan to make one for myself, but the daisy motif will be placed differently (wouldn't work with that tight section around my chest ! :-P)

Glad you like it :-)
20  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Marguerite cardigans for my girls on: April 24, 2012 02:48:34 AM
For years I've been looking for the perfect flower motif, that would be altogether pretty AND easy to crochet. Finally, I found one in a vintage stitch dictionnary this winter. Okay, it wasn't perfect but after fixing some petals that just didn't look right, ... I had the perfect flowers !! I first made a hat using this stitch, but quickly needed to turn it into a pretty cardigan... I've now made 3 so far (+ the doll versions :-P).

It was my niece's birthday, so she was the first to get one, made it with 2 strands of baby blue thrifted yarn. And made a matching tiny cardigan for her doll :-)

I then made 2 more, with the lovely "Eco +" yarn by Cascade yarns: you gotta love those pretty colors, and the yarn was surprisingly softer than I thought ! I only kept 4 buttons, and my daughters love those !! I really enjoyed making them too, top down + all in one piece is def. my favorite construction method !! Yay for crochet :-D
