So I saw these magnets in a kitchsy little store once, these "elements magnets" - and i LOVED them... but of course i wasn't going to pay $20 for them. But this was like 4 years ago, and finally, years later, I did it! I made them! Yay.
(here's the explanation part, skip it if you don't want to read about it and instead just look at my pretty picture!
I bought the little tins online, and came up with my idea for each elements. The fire is fire cut out of a magazine with burnt matches inside, the water is painted with glass paint, then filled with E6000 to seal the paint, then, well, obviously filled with water. Wind is painted with glass paint again and filled with balled up cotton, earth is glass paint filled with soil. All four are sealed with E6000. I originally used magnet tape until they immediately fell off the fridge (notice the crack in the fire one) so I bought those hardcore circle magnets and they work better.
