21  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Moving and want to get rid of all of this stuff (knick knacks, etc) on: June 01, 2005 12:25:07 PM
Consignment stores? You should look them up in the phonebook. Depending on how nice the stuff is, they will give you more money.

Thanks Gothmom! The shade is basically just a storebought lampshade made out of whatever plastic cotton mix they use- it was cream colored to start with.  I then took some film negitives I had left over and started sewing them on with cross stitches not really caring if they overlapped. Then to cover the raw edges at the top and bottom, I used black electrical tape. Those little guys at the bottom are peices of a mismatched manger set I got at the op shop.  Its really funny because Mary and the cow have really really large pupils and are just designed like cartoons anyway.  I will put that pic up as soon as possible. Yes it is safe- I have been using it for about two years- I would suggest you go to Home Depot or Lowes and get someone who specializes in electrical wiring give you a lesson on how to assemble a lamp safely- I know for sure that they sell all the components at Lowes.

It took me a sec to figure out how to puff the lanterns out but I did it- I love origami- it always makes me feel so smart when I finally figure out how to make things from those patterns! Thats pretty sad since it is a craft invented for children!  Tongue Anyway thanks for the post!
