23  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Peach and Green 50s floral pattern dress on: August 05, 2011 10:08:08 AM

This one I made by grading up a vintage pattern. It was quite a bugger to sew. The yoke and the sleeves are ONE PIECE!

I had to re-size the arms (bigger) and it took me a few days to realize I had to widen the shoulder dart and then I could add width to the sleeves!

There is horsehair braid in the bottom hem, a-la 1950s...
So if you ever run into a similar pattern, just IM me here and I can give ya instructions on how to enlarge the sleeves without making the yoke bigger  Wink

Don't cha just love the color combo?!

The front detail is quite nice.
I enjoy wearing it so much!  Smiley

Grin This is so cute! Just like I would have made it; except I would have brought the waistline up a bit higher to give it a different proportion and elongate the figure. You look great in it!
28  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / LIMBO / Extra Extra Read All About It! Simplicity 2247 on: April 28, 2011 04:36:57 AM
Moved from: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=255.0

This is Simplicity 2247 done in a cotton print bought from J and O Fabrics (on line- google if you wanna look- great selection)

I did upgrade this with 4 inches in the hips (left the waist as a size 28) and did some taking in at the upper bust. I also raised the neckline and lowered the bottom hemline. If you want to know how I did this in more detail, I have a series of plus size sewing videos (done with this pattern) on my channel http://www.youtube.com/user/MsPsychoSue
It's sew much easier to just show yinz how I do these instead of writing. I am a person who learned sewing by:
1. trial and error
2. watching videos

So I figured that the sexy curvy women out there need a sewing guru right?

There's more pictures on the link in my signature
