2691  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Givers and needers R10 (signups till Oct 15 Givers: Nov 10, Needers: Nov 30) on: September 26, 2011 10:48:29 AM
I don't think people should feel guilty for only being needers. I feel guilty only being a giver and not actually having to make anything. This will be a first for me not making something for a Craftster swap. Plus the more givers we have the less likely it is that I will get to send 2+ packages.
And petskin, you  know if you really need some jars for your whimseys I can probably find some around here to send to you., just so you know.
I don't think I've ever been so excited for partners as I am now, except for my first of course.

Lunar powered is a great name, by the way. Welcome to your new addiction swapping!

ETA: I just realized it is limited to 40 people and we are already at 15. If we get 40 before October 15th does that mean we get partners early? I love it when that happens!

I can't help it if I'm easy.
Oh no, you told me that and now I want to start filling a box, but we still have over 2 weeks before partners are really made and I get her Q so I can't really start now, can I? Ah, well, I have plenty to do until then... supposedly...

I wonder if anyone would have any extra roving any size pieces of wool, for needle felting. With x-mas coming, i think that`ll be all i`m making for presents Cheesy and i also love natural yarns, never enough of these  (not to mention it`s lightweight for shipping Cheesy)

- I`m trying to figure out what could i send... i have a little bit of everything- some papers, some bobs and pieces... need to  clean my craft room and figure out.
Not only do I have roving (which I send an extra message to our lovely orgs about) but I have raw fleece that I need to get cleaned soon. Motivation? It's all white though, which should be cool because then you can dye it yourself! Koolaid! Wilton's!

Leighi123 seems to be having trouble with her camera cord so I will post what I sent her and Levi.
Here is the NOMster. I could not for the life of me get inspired for this guy! Levi's favorite color is purple and man, it is hard to design purple for a boy. Now that I have sent it I have so many ideas of what I COULD have done, but too late now. Here he is:

And they said he liked "little people" so I made some finger puppets:

And for my partner herself I made a NOMster hoop. Russ (my 4yo) decided he needed a nose so he got one. Yes, there is a pocket mouth on there. She likes citrus colors so I sent along a FQ I had in my stash for her as well.

OH NOES! The nomster is eating the people!

I did the Apple cider vinegar thing. The corner still smells a little like cat pee, but you really have to stick your face in there breath really deep to smell it. But it also took out some of the purple where the vinegar had direct contact with it: turned it more blue. I think it's because I just had the shawl in the water already, wet and everything, then dumped the vinegar right on top of the shawl and let it sit. Funny thing is it only turned it on one side. Well, both sides but that was where it was twisted.  So part is blue on one side and purple on the other and the other part is vice versa. Thought you guys might want to know about that. My man doesn't think it looks too bad, but it still changed it. Funny: I originally wanted it pink and white and now it's more blue and white. Bah!

Giver! Mostly just fabric and scraps.
I think I forgot to mention something on my Q but I don't remember what.
I did send to both orgs but separately. I spelled Tiffi wrong the first time, somehow.
Question: if someone sees a giver they want can they request that person? Like if someone saw my post about my fabric stash and decided they wanted my scraps (or whatever) could they say "hey I want Jex to send me a bunch of blue scraps so hook me up with that b****?"
You know, just for clarification for any needers, really.
By the way, I would totally be down with going through my scraps and organizing them by colors and ironing them before I send them, in case anyone is interested Wink. I know it's a long shot but someone on said stash post mentioned other people would probably be interested in my scrap stash for some reason. Thought I'd throw it out there!

Wow! That is so bright!
Bella, that is so even! I almost want to eat it, like sherbet.
You guys are awesome.
I'll share some this coming week.
2698  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Embroidery Hoopla Rnd 6 Gallery!! (Send 9/12/11) on: September 23, 2011 03:44:39 PM
After seeing all the fantastic embroidered hoops on here it makes me wish I knew how to do that instead of just cross stitch.

Just cross stitch?? Well you should take a look at this!

I didn't mean it that way - I know there are incredible cross stitch patterns and I've done some in the past.  I meant I wished I could embroider as well as cross-stitch.
Then do it. Nothing stopping you

Bought socks today! They are different than what I was imagining for the _______ ___ but when I picked them up the rest of the project filled my head instead of just a rough draft. I am so excited. I just hope I can make it work! Here's hoping! Oh, and I found an extra. I couldn't resist picking it up. It's little, but it fits this swap perfect!
2700  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Post about Scraps (I think) on: September 23, 2011 07:03:01 AM
I find it hard to believe that ALL those scraps have sentimental value. How about separating some out and offering them on craigslist or freecyle?
I didn't say the scraps have sentimental value, just some of the clothes.

The scraps I keep because I don't throw things away. You know, the whole "keep everything, you might need it someday" thing. There are so many possibilities with them, I just need to find those possibilities and harness the power of will.

Would anyone really take fabric scraps on freecycle? And you know even is someone did want them, I would feel the need to iron them before I gave them away, just to be hospitable. Hell, I would want to iron them before i even listed them so I could organize them as per what people might want. But then after doing all that ironing and seeing how little space they take up afterwards, you know I would want to keep them because hey, they take up less space this way and I just worked my ass off to make them look pretty. You see how my mind works.

Bea, I totally understand what you mean. I have a feeling if we did get a bigger house with and actual room for my sewing/stashes that it would be shared with my husband's computer/game crap and while I would have more space than I do now, I don't think I would be as encouraged to grow my stashes. a 7 room house, though, wow! I would still get just one room to myself. I already know how the rooms would be divided and I'm tempted to tell you. I think since I've been with child this round I've been getting wordier, at least online. *sigh*

My daughter's middle name was almost Bea...
