801  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: little dog on: October 05, 2010 09:34:42 PM
i havnt really done much in the way of modelling..or at least anything you couldnt sand black fingerprints off Undecided
cornflower  maybe? it stops the clay sticking to your fingers...would it prevent colour transfer? Undecided

he still looks good though!
802  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Tiny Haunted House goes travelin' on: October 04, 2010 09:47:09 PM
i love that it has legs  Grin
the pumpkins awesome too.

did you bake side of the house separately and then glue together? did you also glue on the legs?
803  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: Dragon wing and Tails!!!! on: October 04, 2010 03:21:42 AM
really love the dragon wings Kiss

maybe elongating the tail...making it more sinuous (thinking torque or cuff style bangle) would make this more effective Undecided

805  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: Have you tried buffing with a Shamwow? on: October 02, 2010 09:21:18 PM
i usually use an old tea towel for buffing though kitchen paper or even toilet paper gets good results Smiley

thank you Smiley

i do like those mini pumpkins...i didnt realise exactly how small they were until i realised those were the keyboard keys behind them! Shocked

i did a day course in sugar paste flowers last weekend. yesterday i managed my first polymerclay flower. i used the 'pinch and pull' method, frilling the petals with a cocktail stick (polymer clay is a lot more sticky than sugar paste and you will need a lot more cornflower  to stop it sticking though mine did tear on one petal)
for the stamens i used part of a scrap skinner blend. i partially leached it on parchment paper so it was quite firm then on a edge i used a tissue blade to slice of the thinnest strands (a bit like making chocolate curls...but on an edge so they are very thin and fine)
you cant push these in like wire...they will simply break. i make holes with a cocktail stick first in the centre of the flower then pushed them in with the aid of a par of tweezers.

im not to displeased with my first attempt though i feel there a lot of room for improvement Smiley
(i didnt bake the flower like this...i grabbed a lump of scrap and stood it upright to bake)

809  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: constellation brooch on: October 01, 2010 08:16:43 AM
Dumb question from the dummy here Tongue By drill and back fill, do you mean you individually drilled the stars then put glitter in the holes? If so, I'm even more in awe! They're both gorgeous, but I particularly love the bangle

thank you

i made a skinner blend from metallic clay (in this case white to metallic sapphire (fimo) to black) and added additional glitter (just the normal stuff they sell for craft). i cut to shape and baked it flat. then i drilled holes where i wanted the stars that would form the constellation to be and filled these with white clay (added the 'frame'and the brooch back) and baked again. then i sanded the entire brooch Smiley
