Beautiful mittens and I love the color yarn you used.

Really lovely! I always have to go up a couple of sizes or a weight of yarn when I'm knitting cables. My first cabled project was Deb Stoller's cabled hat from the stitch and bitch book and I followed the directions exactly...it ended up fitting my best friend's neice who was 4 at the time Wink

6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: star quilt - stripes and flowers on: October 22, 2009 08:03:23 AM
Very pretty, I think the quilting is great, I still haven't branched into free motion so I'm totally impressed Smiley

Thank you Smiley He's a little growl-y when I try to take him off my projects. As soon as I lay something on the floor he thinks it's an open invitation to sleep on it.
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Christmas Star, My first machine quilting (photo heavy) on: October 07, 2009 05:57:57 PM
Well technically not my first machine quilting, but my first "non-grid" quilting. Usually I just draw straight lines and make a diamond pattern across the whole top. But now that I have my new machine I decided I needed to branch out a little bit. After I quilted around each of the stars I thought there was too much "un-quilted" space so I quilted another smaller star inside each (I think that's called echo?). In any case, I'm glad I gave it a go and I'll definitely be trying to branch out more with each quilt.

So here she is, a simple Carpenter's star inspired quilt made with red and white quilting cotton. I didn't use a pattern, but was inspired by a photo I saw on flickr. More details can be found on my blog if you're interested: http://littlegraydog.blogspot.com/2009/10/christmas-quilt-is-complete.html

Thanks for taking a peek Smiley

can you possibly remake the top one in a women's 14  Wink please?

Thanks Smiley My mom said the same thing when she saw it. If only I had the patience to do adult size sweaters.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Top Down Raglan Baby Sweaters (Wool-y Goodness Times 4) on: September 29, 2009 12:35:22 PM
This summer I finally finished up 4 sweaters that I've been working on for a while. They are all top down raglans and made of 100% wool. Ready and waiting for the next person I know who has a baby. Size 12-18 months or so. More detailed information can be found on my blog here: http://littlegraydog.blogspot.com/2009/07/one-morning-in-maine.html and here: http://littlegraydog.blogspot.com/2009/09/why-does-it-take-me-so-long-to-take.html if you're interested.
