1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Tutorial for divider in a tote or purse on: May 23, 2006 01:39:59 PM
I have looked near and far on Crafster and can't seem to find a good tutorial to put a divider in a tote bag or purse. Does anyone know of one?

I had my first craft show this weekend and I received a request for one in a custom bag.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Tote w/matching checkbook cover for silent auction on: April 20, 2006 08:27:25 PM
A co-worker of mine is performing in a play for a women's center and I offered to make her a tote bag to be put up in a silent auction. I made it with some wonderful fabric from Robert Kaufman that I got from a great little store in NE Mpls, Crafty Planet. I lined it in a pale blue solid fabric and I also stitched together a matching checkbook cover too. The fabric on the lower half of the bag is a deep chocolate brown with tiny white polka dots. The picture doesn't show them so well. It's the largest bag I've made so far but I thought someone might like the larger size to take on a weekend trip or getaway.

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Spanish Fiesta Tote Bag on: April 16, 2006 07:47:31 PM
I made this for a good friend that is traveling to Spain at the end of the month. I wanted her to have soemthing unique to take toting (pardon the pun) around Spain. I found the vintage Spanish dancer fabric on Ebay and I cut out a strip to put in the middle of the tote. The interior fabric came from a friend and this is also vintage. I made a sunglass case and matching zippered pouch. All in all I'm pretty proud with how it turned out.

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My first custom order for a purse on: April 09, 2006 08:21:40 PM
I finally received my first custom order for a purse. It's for my dog walkers mom who suffers from MS and has a bad back. Because of her illness she can not carry a purse for extended periods of time over her shoulder. She wanted a purse with a detachable handle so she could loop it over a grocery cart handle. She purchased the exterior fabric and I had this great vintage linen material that I used for the interior. I am still making her a wallet, coin purse and checkbook cover to complete the set but I thought I would post the purse.

5  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Necktie Quilt- Question on: March 06, 2006 11:43:02 AM
Has anyone ever attempted to make a quilt from men's neckties? I have a good friend who recently lost her husband and she wants to make a quilt out of his neckties. I have searched high and low and can't find anything out there. Does anyone know of a site or perhaps have a pattern they are willing to share?

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Purse from Kids Cords - First Time Attempted on: March 05, 2006 11:28:02 AM
I  had this bag of kids clothes sitting around that a friend of mine had given me and I decided to finally go through it. I found this adorable pair of brown cords and decided to try my hand at making them into a small purse. I was going to finish off the purse by turning over the edge and stitching around it but the button got in the way. I decided to leave a little bit of the lining exposed. I kind of like it.

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My first attempt at a two toned bag/bottom....and Flower Power on: February 26, 2006 09:06:38 PM
I finally got up the guts and attempted to make a two toned tote bag. I've seen it done many times but for some reason had it in my brain that it was so hard  Roll Eyes.....it wasn't

I have a co-worker who is totally in love with anything red, white and blue and found this fabric at Wal-Mart. I used black denim for the bottom of the bag and a light blue fabric for a lining. I decided to use interfacing for both the outer and inner parts of the bad and I am very pleased with how it turned out.

When I saw the fabric for my second bag I just new I was not walking out of the store without it. I just love the COLORS. It screams Spring and bring me to the beach.

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Custom labels for purses/tote bags..Does anyone know where I can purchase some? on: February 22, 2006 07:34:26 PM
Does anyone know of an online store where I could purchase custom labels? There is a site but you are required to order 500 and to be honest that's a whole lotta lables. I have no clue on how to go about making any, but if someone does and would be willing to share I would greatly appreciate it.
9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / My first tote that I want to sell on Etsy. What should I price it at? on: February 15, 2006 08:28:40 PM
I finally made a tote bag that I would like to sell on Etsy but I'm not sure what to ask for it? The fabric cost me about $3-$5 and it took me about 3 hours to put together. The tote is lined with two interior pocets, the smaller one I designed to hold a bus/train pass. It's good size about 16"w x 20"h. It has a tie closure.

I really like the size of this tote and I am planning on making it in various fabrics. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / First Tote with pocket/pen holder plus zippered makeup bag on: January 28, 2006 08:34:04 PM
This is my first attempt EVER at sewing a zipper. I have to say, I was a little scared but with the help of a great tutorail from E.R.I.K.A I decided to give it a try. I think it turned out pretty good for a first timer. Any suggestions or ideas are gladly welcomed.

The tote bag has an inside pocket with a pen holder. This was also a first and I just winged it. The tote measures 15 1/2" w x 16" h. The handles are 30" L x 3" w. I folded over approx 1/4" on each side and ironed it. Then I folded it in half, ironed it and stitched away. I didn't use any interfacing because the outer fabric is actually drapery fabric and has a vinyl like backing. My mom asked me to make a tote for her friend for valentines day and I wanted to make sure I got it down before attempting on the totally awesome fabric she purchased. So, I'm giving this prototype to my mom!

What do you all think?
