1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / DIY Earring Holder on: June 16, 2009 10:21:33 PM

I was in desperate need of an earring holder. So I searched the internets far and wide for an earring holder that I liked. I found a lot, that were made of picture frames and mesh. But they weren't quite what I was looking for, I'm lazy and it seemed waaay too complicated for me! haha :] I came up with a way of making a great looking earring holder in 4 simple steps! And its relatively cheap as well.

This is what I had before, as you can see, it doesn't hold very many earrings.

Things you'll need:

-1 box of popsicle sticks. I got mine at Michaels, 1000 sticks for $3.99. But of course you won't be needing 1000. The 100 pack will be more than enough.

-Glue. Tacky glue should work perfectly for your purposes. 1 bottle for $1.99 @ Michaels. I used a glue gun because it dried fast. You could buy one of those too, its pretty cheap, like $2.99 for the gun and $2 for the glue sticks.

-Paint. Choose colors that you like!
-Buttons. Feathers. Whatever.
-Anything you want to add to decorate.

Once you've got all the items necessary, you are ready to start!

First, paint your popsicle sticks whatever color you like and let it dry. Make sure you put something underneath the popsicle sticks so that the paint doesn't get everywhere. I did it on top of my to do list.

Next, glue your popsicle sticks together. You can space them however you like. I did mine like a wine rack.

After the glue dries, you are basically done, but if you would like to add glitter or sequins or whatever, you can.

And to finish it all off, put the jewelry on! and voila! All done!

Great thing about this is that you can make it as big as you like. And if you find that over the years, you need more space, simply add more sticks! Additionally, it not only holds earrings, it also can hold necklaces and bracelets of all sizes!
