1061  COOKING / Dessert / Re: German Chocolate Cake: What type of FROSTING!?!?! on: March 14, 2005 10:32:06 AM
I don't know if this will be helpful or not, but you can get the pecans and coconut frosting in a jar at the store with the pre-made frostings.  That's what I ususally do for my mom because she german chocolate cake is her favorite and I never have pecans or coconut around!

As I picture it, your description sounds like the hard candy 'wreaths' I have seen.  Maybe something like that would work.  Something like this:
1063  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Quilt Squares Swap - Mods, please check if mailing method is acceptable on: March 09, 2005 12:47:55 PM
I like this idea!  I'd be interested in participating.  Like DukesBean I think we should make a square for each person instead of just doing 12. Smiley
1064  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Pasta in the microwave? on: March 09, 2005 07:56:01 AM
I used to make noodles in the microwave in the dorms all the time!  Usually my roommate and I would just make rotini or macaroni, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with spaghetti.  I just put the pasta in a microwave safe bowl and cover it with water and cook it for about 5 minutes.  You might have to experiment with the time.  I've seen people use the electric kettles to boil the water first, but in my experience it really doesn't save you any time and you still have to microwave the noodles.  Like someone else said, if it overflows you will get a starchy mess in your microwave to clean up later.

I've also done iron ons where you color with crayons on paper.  I don't know if they were special crayons or not though.

1069  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Re: Simplicity #9004 - Cat Bed on: March 03, 2005 08:39:47 AM
question for those that have completed the cat bed. how large is your cat"? mine would be a little on the voluptuous side at 13 lbs, and i want to make sure he'll fit in there comfortably..

I would like to know this too.  I picked up this pattern last week and was wondering about the size.  My cat sure likes to eat!
