1  ooh i want it! any ideas on how to make this? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by elevator. on: February 06, 2005 01:20:40 PM
So, I've found my PERFECT dress. For anything. There's nothing I HAVE to have it for right now, but I just love it so much, that I'm hoping to get some ideas on how to make it. See, I can't buy it because.. it's a doll dress.

I don't care about the jacket, but I am so in love with that dress.. it's grannnndddddd.

If it's easier to make, I won't mind the sleeves being more like this style (another doll dress is the only example I could find, even though I thought this sleeve would be easy to find photos of..) http://www.jerrolddewolfe.com/champagnecocktail_pic2.jpg

I was thinking my best bet is to find a skirt pattern in that style (I'm not advanced enough to do this from scratch), then a shirt pattern, and just connect them and then make the belt somehow.

I also really like the buttons on the back, but if I can't have that, whatever.. I'm flexible. I could also maybe do snaps, then glue buttons on, so there's at least something back there..

i'll probably redo this sketch a million times until it's perfect since i'm not getting a good sewing machine until christmas.

does anyone know a really good pattern i could use for this? preferrably one by Simplicity since i know i can find those at the local walmart. thanks =)
