1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: Renaissance Saccoccia pocket diy? Picture in post nr 3! on: April 07, 2017 03:36:51 AM
https://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/175905_07Apr17_Soccaccia.jpeg[/img] Is a scanned image with use of photo copy machine. The ribbon goes around the waist and ties at side. The slit fits a ladies hand width. I had a steel measuring ruler next to it in the scan for sizing, but I do not see it in picture.Width of top is 13 cm, length of pocket is 28 cm. Ribbon is 1.8 cm width bougth that 2 decades ago in Norway is thick glossy satin. There are patterns online of this. I hand draw mine from looking at pictures on Pinterest and Renaissance paintings.Maybe I add some beads later on...

See www.mjtrim.com/Official_Site/Fringes and at www.paperchase.co.uk I saw some time ago it as part of a mixed pack. I am not in US but search also Michaels and JoAnns online if you are in USA.
4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Interesting info see article donate/re-use art supplies. on: March 10, 2017 04:07:34 AM
I am always looking for inspiration art supplies and came accross this article about donate/re-use art supplies in USA.
See www.artistsnetwork.com/art-supplies-thrift-store-creative-reuse
There are other cities that have this, one is mentioned in the comments. Article is february 2017. If anyone knows of more places like this add them here. I am not in US but think a list of this would be helpful.

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: Renaissance Saccoccia pocket diy? on: February 27, 2017 03:19:26 AM
Too expensive for shipping to Europe mail costs usd 40 for 2 small pieces less than 1 yard total and usd 30 for one small piece of fabric so not for me. Maybe for US it might be interesting to look at pretty fabrics at the site www.renaissancefabrics.net  I keep on searching online see what I find. I did buy once at www.fabric.com but they messed up my online order and is too far to return fabrics so that is not an option.
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Renaissance Saccoccia pocket diy? on: February 27, 2017 12:38:47 AM
I was google searching images for ideas for leftover beads and saw some accessoire on 16th century Italian paintings which caught my eye. I looked up what it is. Is a sort of pocket/pouch called saccoccia and a sort of precursor of the modern handbag.
Not sure if my post is for the bags/purses forum or more for the Costume clothes forum. Has anyone made this?
There are some pattern diy sketches if you search images.
I do not have much apparel fabric and only some too thin silk. No taffeta no brocade etc. Are there places that sell online small pieces of the richer fabrics? Does it exist fabric lookalikes of Renaissance era to buy online?
I did not use use interfacing as mention is made of inbetween fabric so used some cotton fabric.
I have plenty of seasonal Xmas/ holiday quilt cotton fabric leftovers so yesterday I spend sunday afternoon on a poinsettia saccoccia.
I have no camera so no picture alas. I handsew and go slow. Still have to do the ribbon attachment bit. Some painting show it attached to the pouch and some site write about it being on a slider/tube so it can  move around the waist.Today I continue to finish it hopefully. It is a fun project to do.
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Stopped buying sets of coloring items, which single colors to buy? on: February 24, 2017 06:09:32 AM
I will buy turquoise and flamingo pink.
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: How do you organize your craft supplies??? on: January 30, 2017 04:13:04 AM
I try to set limits for how big my junk hoarding is allowed to get. I've got a storage bag (I think it's from IKEA) for packaging materials. If it can't fit in it, I'm not "allowed" to keep it. It works ok.

I use an old grocery shopping basket is like 3 shoeboxes stacked sideways in size, for bubblewraps, packages I cut out usable side panels before storing in it, empty perfume boxes, empty matchboxes, kitchenpapertowel cardboard rolls etc.
