41  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Pocket Letters Round 3 - SEND out by September 30 on: September 29, 2016 12:20:12 AM
I've finished all my ATCs!! I'm really pleased with how they came out! I can't wait to do another pocket letter swap! I just need to gather up the behind the card goodies and get everything ready to ship.

Smmarrt, I can totally relate to being hyper focused on details not requiring that amount of focus, That sounds like a summary of 99% of the projects I create! I hope you have a huge burst of inspiration for your ninth card!

1 card down, 8 more to go! I have a general plan for the other eight cards, it's just been a little difficult to find time lately (I have a sick three year old who's been needing lots of extra time with mama). I'm hoping to get done and send some time next week, but I may end up working on it right up to the deadline.

I love how there are so many different ways I can craft my partner's theme! I could end up doing ten different pocket letters with the same theme and have them all turn out different!

I'm glad you like everything GeekGirl! I like the idea of the flag bunting joining an ATC collection! I actually just made it to be used as a banner that could be cut down or used at full size, but I had to figure out a way to package it, so I made to card to wrap it around.

I used a Silhouette Portrait to cut everything. I just upgraded to a Cameo 3, but it's still in the box until I find time to get it set up. I love the machine but feel I must warn any potential buyers, it's addicting (but the crafting possibilities are endless)!

I had a lot of fun designing and making everything for you!

Abbeeroad - I love your fabric envelope!  Wrapping it with packing tape was ingenious!
BigBangMomma - Those birch tree paper bags are really cute! I now find myself needing a birch tree stencil!
RackyCoo - I love everything you made for both of your partners!  I especially love the Poe art, does the 'bury me' mean it's seed paper (there's no way I'd be able to bring myself to bury such an artistic piece!)?  Do you have any pics of the envelope you sent to teag (I can't remember if you said you don't have any envelope pics, or if you do, but they already had postage on them).
Pioneer9 - I really like your mail art and that magnet you sent!
LeapFeetFirst - your envelope is super neat, talk about mixed media!
Kwality - cute monsters!  I love your space cat, I was thinking of doing a space cat on the outside of one of my envelopes, but that whole envelope idea ended up getting nixed.  The stars are really neat, are they made up of different pieces all fitted together?
Sonjaboo - first of all, thank you so much for organizing this swap!!  Secondly, I love the sewn edges on your envelope as well as the cat wearing the hat!
deadbathducky - the gumball machine would make a perfect magnet!

I love all the different techniques everyone's used!

There's so much good stuff in this gallery!
noooitaremybirthday - the package you sent was amazing!  I especially love the little octopus and the gnome envelope!
LimeRiot - that science envelope is super neat and I love your watercolor and calligraphy prints, you are so talented!
curiousfae - I really like your "all about me" page, I think everyone should do one the next time we have a mail swap!
Belladune - I like your watercolor scene with the tree and the river and I love that it's painted on a page of poetry!
flygirl88 - I like how you took the tea theme and ran with it!  I love how you incorporated the textured background and coordinated the colors for the teal/green tea card, it all works together perfectly!
CraftyLittleMonkey - that awesome box looks like a great place to store treasures!  The fiber art sun is really neat, I wouldn't even know where to start to make something like that!  I also love the junk journal that you made, what a great way to upcycle the book!
loves2experiment - I like the idea of the rubber envelope - no need to worry about any crazy weather affecting the contents!  I also really like your colorful coloring page envelope!  The fabric postage stamps are such a unique and fun idea!
Homerof2 - I like your washi tape envelope!  It looks like you have quite the collection of assorted tapes!
Onyxnox - I like the tags you made!  You are so good at getting that distressed look - upon closer inspection, I just noticed the sewing along the edges of the butterfly tag and the inside of the bookmark tag, I love it!  It's the perfect embellishment for those tags!  The mixed media journal looks pretty neat from the outside, do you by chance have any pics of the inside that you can share with us?
Tattooedcrafter - I'm a narwhal fan and I love the embroidery!  The octopus and whale are cute, I like that they can be added to the bag, or used separately.
vkvhawk - I love your watercolor bird, it's beautiful!
whats_her_name - the cards you made are really nice, they would be hard for me to give away!
teag - I love how colorful both of your packages were, I especially love the geisha dolls, they're cute and fun!
pottermouth - your envelope is really neat, it looks like there's a lot of detail involved in it! I really like the vintage tags that you made, it looks like you also stitched the edges, I love how it adds to the distressed/vintage feel!
Smmarrt - I like your underwater envelope, I love how it looks like there are bubbles floating around!

Wow, there is so much good stuff in this gallery and I've only commented on half of it!  I want to comment on all of it, but it's getting too late.  I agree with previous commenters, it's amazing how we can all have the same instructions (create happy mail with crafty doo-dads), but come up with so many different variations!  This swap was full of talented crafters!

There's so much happy mail goodness in this gallery and I'm about to add to it!  I received from Geekgirl1000100 the other day!  She put her handmade envelope in a decorated manila envelope.  I like the Zentangled doodle on the manila envelope (I love to Zentangle and am always on the lookout for new patterns and ideas).  The nice thing about the inner green envelope is that I can reuse it!

She made this art/junk journal (I'm not entirely sure what it's referred to as).  It's made up of various fun pages that are just waiting for me to add to them!  It also has two pockets and two itty bitty envelopes that had extra ephemera included in them! And what is the cover made from you ask?  It's the packaging from a bacon, chicken, raspberry soup!  Okay, maybe not that exactly, but some kind of food packaging Smiley.  I love that Geekgirl thought outside the box when she created this mini journal!!

She made and decorated these mini envelopes out of maps and book pages (I love crafts that incorporate book pages!).  The flower badges that she included will be perfect for papercrafting! She also sent a store bought envelope clip.  I'm thinking of incorporating it into a Valentine's Day card for my husband (ooh, or maybe an anniversary card as our anniversary is coming up soon...).

I love the that the cords on these tags coordinate so well!  I might end up using some of the flower badges with these tags to make some gift tags - decisions, decisions...  The doodle in the bottom left is a small art print that I'll put on my craft room desk once I finally get my craft room established.  To the right of the art print is the envelope that it came in.  Last but not least, Geekgirl sent a happy mail stamp.  It will be perfect to use in the next happy mail swap!

Thank you so much Geekgirl1000100 for my happy mail!

Count me in as someone who was a bit disappointed in the "new look" of my envelopes once they had postage added.  Tongue
You should post pics of the original look after your partner receives! Let us see the envelope in all its un-postaged glory!

I received a fun filled envelope from geekgirl1000100 yesterday and will be posting to the gallery soon!  I also mailed to both of my partners yesterday.  The postal worker asked me if I made the envelopes and looked impressed when I told him yes.  As kbrison put it, "I'm counting that as a win"  Smiley.  I told the worker that I wanted stamps for one of my envelopes, and he looked at me like I was crazy and said it would take 13 or 14 stamps and would ruin the artwork.  I told him it would just add to the look.  So he got out the calculator and double checked the amount of stamps and again suggested a printed postage sticker.  He did not lose his facial expression of 'this lady is nuts,' if anything it became 'this lady is really, really nuts!' when I told him I'd still stick with stamps Cheesy  While I would've preferred 11 stamps over the 13 (2 had to go at the bottom and didn't look as good as the ones at the top of the envelope), overall, it added to the envelope aesthetic.

I left room for 4 stamps on my second envelope, but since it needed 6, I opted for the postage sticker.  The worker was really nice and told me he needed to add a first class inked stamp and asked where I wanted him to put it.  He looked pleased that he got to add to the creative look of the envelope when I asked him to stamp it diagonally Smiley.

I spent way more time on this swap than I had originally expected, but I'm so pleased with the final results!  My partners were both a lot of fun to craft for!  Let's do another one soon!
