141  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Bookmark Swap Round 5 (Sign ups CLOSED-Sendouts 3/1) on: February 24, 2012 11:20:27 AM
I think I am going to do the food box deal too. I got ready to package the ones I have done and realized I hadn't thought that far ahead!  Embarrassed  Thanksfully I was reading the board! Thanks! And as I was pulling them in groups to package I got an idea for another one. Hmmm. I think it HAS to get done too. Grrr. Okay, one more and then I am sending. Monday at the absolute latest. I have to cut myself off.

Woohoo, I'm so excited to see what you've come up with!

I plan on doing all 4 bookmarks this weekend...

This was my favorite swap. I'd love to do a full size Doctor swap!

I went over to my Mom's yesterday to work on this swap. Things went wrong every time I even thought of using the sewing or embroidery machines. Thank goodness my mom was there, she's amazing and was able to help me out a lot. I chose a certain craft that I thought would be easy, but as I'm finding out, anything involving any amount of sewing will end up be much more difficult than I ever anticipated!  I'm in serious need of a 'How To Fix Every Problem You'll Ever Encounter With A Sewing Machine' book!

I was able to get a little bit done, but definitely didn't finish as much as I'd hoped

Just ordered a new mat for my cutting machine. All my attempts to re-sticky the old mat have failed miserably and I absolutely HAVE to have my cutter to finish out a couple of the bookmarks plus some stuff for another swap.

Maybe you can try taping the paper to the mat. That's what I do when using my Mom's Cricut and it works pretty well.

My plan was to dedicate my four day weekend to crafting...I now have two days left and haven't started, though I have made preparations.  Hopefully by Monday night, I will have a large pile of completed items!

Would it be cheating if I used some of my fine graphic designing skills in adobe illustrator to create parts of this bookmark? I think it would be nice to send a pretty typographic bookmark and paint the rest of it.
I've never really done it for a swap before and don't really know how people feel about it, it's about half craft and half computer based if that makes sense?

I love this idea, I bet they'll turn out great!!

I'm looking forward to this swap! I'm always using toilet paper as bookmarks, which is both very convenient and quite inconvenient. My nose is always runny, so it's nice to have a tissue so close at hand, but as a result, my 'bookmark' gets thrown away Undecided.

I cut out the image from paper using an x-acto, then used it to stencil onto masking tape on a cutting board, then cut out that with the x-acto and put it on the glass, so I don't think the angle would matter.

It took me a while to figure out how I was going to do my stencils. After a few (very frustrating) failed attempts, I bought some large shipping labels. I printed the images directly on to the labels and adhered them to the glass, then proceeded to use the x-acto to cut the stencil.  The only bad thing was that the stencils could only be used once because they were just a useless lump of wet paper once I rinsed the cream off.

Rene24601 - I know as soon as my nephew sees my little Doctor and Rose he's going to want them both - he loves miniature things that he can play with Smiley.

I agree with everyone, David Tennant Everythings all around! I love the chocolate and the soap idea made me grin like a fool, lol.

Awesome job on the glasses - I see we found the same weeping angel art! Cheesy

Thank goodness for internet images! I don't know that I could create that stencil on my own  Smiley.

How was it working on the angled glasses?

There are so many good Doctor Who things!  This has been such a fun swap, I can't wait for the next one!

I'm glad everyone liked the glasses I did.  Here are a couple of closeups of the Weeping Angel glass.
