It's been quite awhile since I posted anything. I've been working on this "Hex-a-ghan" as I have been calling it since last October. I had joined in a crochet-a-long with Lion Brand. I thought I would finish by Christmas to give to my mom, but no, that was wishful thinking. I finally sent it out today for her birthday on Monday. Sewing in all those ends took forever!
The pattern was easy. It took me a few tries to make the hexagons correctly. I used Wool Ease yarn in four colors. I made one hexagon with a red center just to be silly. Turns out it was a useful thing as it helped me to find my place each time I got back to working on it. I also learned how to crochet the hexagons in as I went, which I thought looked much neater than whip-stitching them all together. I made a pile of them for each row and then attached them with the dark green yarn for the last row around. Here are some pics.
This is an early picture I took back in December showing just a few rows done.
Took this today outside. Finally done!
Here you can see the hexagon with the red center all by itself.
Hope my mom likes it. I have plenty of yarn left over. I was thinking I might make a pair of fingerless gloves and/or a scarf. She get then get all nice and cozy in her chair while she is watching TV.
