Patty_o_furniture, I usually dislike themed Christmas trees, but your HP tree is awesome. I especially like the scarf garland; it really ties the tree together.
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Crochet in Fiction (Movies, TV, Books) on: June 24, 2016 05:01:58 PM
Just a passing reference, but it made me laugh:

In the Rifftrax of The Devil's Hand, the blonde devil cultist explains how she called the "hero" of the movie to her with, "It's a simple process of thought projection or thought transference."

Rifftrax response: "Every girl learns it in Home Ec for the Evil. It comes after crocheting with human hair."

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: looking for vintage style leisure bra pattern on: January 18, 2016 07:26:27 PM
I don't know if it is what you are looking for, but Simplicity 1166, one of its releases of slightly updated versions of vintage patterns, has a cloth bra top that closes with a button in front. The original version of the pattern was from the 1950s.
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: 50 Projects 2016---Busy Hands are Happy Hands! on: January 18, 2016 06:36:03 PM
Never too late makes a good rallying cry. Okay, I'm in. Since January is half over, that means I need to do one project a week for the rest of the year. My main goal is to use up some stash (mostly fabric and yarn) and to get back into the habit of regular crafting, because I'm happier and less stressed when I'm making things.

First project is to finish off some things left half done on my sewing table and in my knitting stuff from last year. Beyond that I have no firm plans, just vague notions.

My 2016 list:

Is it too late to join?

I've been watching the mystery series Longmire, and in the series 4 opener one of the characters wore what seemed to be a black crochet dress to a funeral. I couldn't concentrate on the scene for looking at the dress! You can see a picture at Longmire's IMDB page here.
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: lace skull tee shirt on: October 22, 2015 11:12:30 AM
This looks great. I like the interplay of something hard and spare--bones are the very definition of spareness and simplicity--with something as frothy and frilly and luxurious as lace.
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Skull in a spiderweb hat on: October 22, 2015 10:57:12 AM
This would make an awesome bun cover. (That's actually what I thought it was when I saw the thumbnail.) Especially if the cobwebby bit  were a different color yarn that blended in with your hair color, so it looked like there was a small skull protruding from your head. Very Halloween-y.

I also like your skull scarf you posted on another thread.
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Boring Board Shorts to Snazzy Swimming Dress on: June 19, 2015 01:30:04 PM
I like this. There aren't enough swim dresses out there.
